I'm guessing most people have seen Wizard of Oz and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Maybe Frankenstein and Gone with the Wind also? So we at least have a start on the 30s decade.

You could do like 50's to now in decades, and then like a list of honourable mentions of pre-50's, the big ones that most people are bound to have seen at least once or partly, or "heard of" at the very, very least.

I know what film Ammi is choosing for her number 1 of the sixties.

I think I know what Shaun will choose for his number one of the 90s, but not certain.

Apart from that, I can't predict anything else that is gonna happen, which is exciting.

I might put 30s 40s and 50s in one category, as that may be easier for some to complete a list.

So the plan is to start with the early decades first, that gives this current decade a chance to end, I know some need to see the new Tarantino film before making a decision.

We'll start with the 30s and 60s together. Then we'll do the 40s and 50s together. Then the 70s, then the 80s, then the 90s, then the 00s and then this current decade. We'll do it by one decade at a time.

You send me a pm with your top 20 of each decade ranked in order, I will then add up the scores and we'll have a top 50 countdown for each decade.

Are people happy with this format? Or do you have a suggestion you'd like to make, about anything?

If enough people agree with that, then we can maybe get this underway this weekend. I need feedback, as Dina Carroll once said "don't be a stranger."

Don't send me your film choices yet, I'll let you know in a new thread when we start.

So is everybody OK with how this is gonna work? Anybody think it should be done differently?

I need some clarification and confirmation from people before I start, I need to know this can be a success.

...I don’t know, Alf...the only thing I can think is to do categories/genres...rather than decades...your top dramas/top comedies etc with however many choices you want to give and with each genre crossing and including all decades...?...but what I always say with these things...(...because it was something said to me when I was doing ML ...)...is do it your way, make it an Alf Production and it’ll give you lots of pleasure ....good luck...

The Wizard of Oz is unique as colour production was literally invented half way through shooting so they adopted it, hence the start in b/w!

80 years old this year. A timeless Masterpiece.

Speaking of timeless masterpieces, "Kes" is 50 years old this year, I mention that because I'm just about to watch it. A perfect way to spend my Saturday morning, with possibly the greatest film ever made.

I have a grudge against Kes - we used to keep birds of prey, and my teacher showed us it in class once so I was called "Casper" for most of primary school ...

I'll have to do some research for the early decades, there's not many I've seen never seen the Wizard of Oz, for example

I wouldn't mind helping with the "countdown" aspect of it btw, I think Alf mentioned that somewhere on a previous post. The results would be spoiled for me but it's something I'm kinda-used to posting

I'm a little confused, are we to nominate now or wait until there is an announcement?
