Eastenders
What a way to start the year! And this was only the beginning with what we had in store for Eastenders during 2014. Our fallen angel Ronnie leaving us wigless whilst the UK were still hungover from new years eve
Grammy Awards
And if soap operas and reality TV wasn't enough to keep you warm during this winter we had an iconic opening to the 2014 Grammys by no other than Queen Bey herself! She performed "Drunk In Love" with her husband Jay-Z from the surprise album she dropped just a few weeks prior
The video isn't on youtube anymore
Spice - So Mi Like It
What?? We're still in January!?!? Now, whether you were black, white or asian you ALL knew about this incredible track from Spice which had EVERYONE twerking throughout the whole year. Spice has continued to bless us with bops but this was the bop of all bops which truly shook the world
The release dates are all over the place (typical black organisation) so I went by the date it was put on youtube
February
Spoiler:
Okay we can finally move onto February. Season 6 of RuPauls drag race was seen as one of the best, and just like another thread I made a while back about Season 6 of TV shows always being iconic, this was included!
Always lovely to see a person of colour win a TV show, a very down to earth, humble and talented gentlemen who wasn't in the show for fame, all about the music
So unless you were (literally) living under a rock, you might remember that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West tied the knot. 5 years down the line and they're still going strong with three beautiful children
Met Gala 2014
Whilst things were happy and dandy in the Kardashian West household, the rival power couple seemed to be going through a rough patch, many believed this was the start of "Lemonade". Let's take a trip down memory lane to see Solange lash out at Jay-Z
An honourable mention to badgalriri who looked absolutely STUNNING rocking this Stella McCartney two piece whilst world war three was happening in the elevator
Coronation Street
My personal favourite BGT special week. Me and my mum were hooked!
Sam smiths biggest hit yet alongside a cute bop by Rita both respectively reaching #1 And our robbed queen Ella Henderson coming in at #2 just missing out on the top spot
Iggy Azalea became the fourth solo female rapper to top the chart when "Fancy" reached number one in June, a feat previously achieved only by Lauryn Hill, Lil' Kim and Shawnna. In its sixth of seven weeks on top, "Fancy" became the longest-reigning single by a female rapper on the chart.
Big Brother UK
Now, I don't care for the series itself I only care about the house, it was very well designed. Also, the hype on TIBB when the photos were released was a fun night - shoutout to the girls who were there
On second thoughts.. there was one moment of the series that springs to mind
(Only posted the will.he.stop one because it reminds me of when I turned 21)
August
Spoiler:
VMA Awards 2014
Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj perform their hit single "Bang Bang" Our natural haired queen Onika handling the wardrobe malfunction with professionalism
Yes I know, the era already started with the lovely Pills and Potions but it didn't get the recognition it deserved. This was the song and video which took the world by storm and will continue to do so through the remainder of the year
I asked the forum this question when I was #49 in Most Loved, but let's not remind ourselves of that. This song was tearing up the charts in August 2014 reaching #1, a cute song too!
Enough about me! Taylor swift was making her biggest comeback yet which had everyone shaking it off.. apart from the country fans (Stacey) who were not pleased with this "urban" direction
2014 wasn't done with us yet as we still have a lot to get through! Unfortunately during this time I wasn't able to post on TIBB due to being banned along with the rest of the weaves
Anyway, let's proceed
Meghan reaches #1
Love it or hate it, we ALL know the words to this song. A plus size anthem which ruled the charts
I know it was released earlier in the year but during the autumn/winter months this song was POPPING in the clubs, along with her other song "Real Love"
An amazing year all around, never forget! TV and Music were great, it was also the last "brutal" and "off limits" year of stan twitter (2011-2014), I feel that after 2014 people started to grow up and get jobs
If I missed anything out please post below along with your thoughts of 2014
