As with the "beast from the east", my main concern is other people panic buying... Resulting in me panic buying... So yeah, nothing survivalist or anything but we'll make sure we have enough food in to last a while and also keep topping off on fuel rather than letting the car run dry like we usually do... So if worst comes to worst we can flee... Somewhere... Without having to worry about fuel shortages . I can get a good 600 miles on a tank.

And hey if it comes right down to it, we live near a clean fresh water source and deer and I have a bow .

Yes, it’s the panic buying that is the worry.
My hubby calls me his warbride, because I have always bought extras, especially when on offer.
We will just have to go with the flow.
See how it pans out.

Thats whats really worrying me. I know many dismiss it as scaremongering or whatever, but..many things to do with this were dismissed as scaremongering that are actually happening now and being made out that was the wish/plan all along so...

3 of my medications are on 'the list' of stuff that will apparently possibly be problematic.

1 of my meds is hard enough to get at the best of times, nevermind if theres a shortage.

However, my lovely GPs refuse to give me more than a 2 week supply of my most needed medication at a time. Which is fantastic as even now, the chemist never has it (despite knowing I will need it every fortnight as I have used them for years...) and theres a ridiculous **** about where they keep telling me its ordered, its ordered which often ends up in me missing whole days worth of it which is pure torture as its my main pain med and am on a very high dose too (tapentadol - 500mgs per day). When its over a day, I sometimes go into opiate withdrawal ontop of the pain, which is also fantastic of course So not hopeful at all for that one, if the shortages do happen. But of course, listening to those who really don;t give a crap about anything besides some fantasy of Brexit they are holding onto in their heads..its just people trying to panic us and scare us into delaying, or not leaving! Go brexit!!! No problems to be seen here, not at all. Same as how the possibility of no deal was just scaremongering too, no way would that ever ever happen in a million years! Despite sarcasm about it though, it really is freaking me out

Not that concerned about food tbh. If prices rise, I will deal. We have a cupboard full of tins and stuff and have a spare freezer for backup for random skint times so will manage. But the meds thing is stressing me so much..am actually half seriously considering ordering some from silkroad (or whatever it is these days) but then stressing incase it gets intercepted by customs and am done for buying drugs!

I get 2 months at the time and basically lied I lost my bag of meds bc my rucksack got stolen.
I read stories of people getting refused extra scripts so went with a lie and got a new script issued

I have a few months meds in hand.
Diabetic insulin, needles, testing strips and lancets, along with the Metformin.
I have 19 items on my script, plus sharps box.
You are allowed to order your script up to 10 days early now, our surgery suggests 7-10 days so that you have plenty of time to get your meds.
Needless to say mine go in early every month, used to be a couple of days but the week is better.
My concern is my none repeat antibiotics.
I can go months without them, then I can go a long spell on them, changing type every 7-14 days depending on course.
I take a minimum of 540 tablets a month plus anywhere up to another 112 antibiotics a month.

What..what will you do? They'll be no nipping in an out of France like you do now, they'll be a hard border, taxes and controls on what comes in and out.

Eh? There is a hard border now with a France is there not ...you don’t slope through without clearing customs

With regard to stock piling I don’t see the point, like how much can you actually stock pile anyway and it’s things like fruit and veg that might be in short supply and you can’t stockpile that, fuel, again you cant really do too much other than fill the car up, feel sorry for anyone on meds as we don’t really know how that will pan out or anything for that matter...

Wow smudgie, this will be making you very anxious then, and Vicky too it's the one part of brexit that I really really hope is scaremongering and there will be no shortages.

Can’t really say I am over anxious.
Slightly concerned perhaps.
Hopefully if we do crash out, supplies can come direct from manufacturers outside of the EU direct.

The problem though Alf is that a lot of people WILL be paranoid and those people will shop the shelves dry. That's what happened with the heavy snow a couple of years back. It's not that there would have been any great problem with supplies if people had just continued to shop as normal - but people ran in and filled their car boot, so if you were slow off the mark you WERE left without certain things. The same has happened with fuel multiple times - people filling their tank to the brim in a panic, leaving the pumps dry for many other people, when there in fact ended up being no actual problem with "normal supply".

That will almost certainly happen again if we have a no-deal Brexit.

We won't have freedom of movement so there's no guarantee we'll even be able to go to France . Our EU passports will be invalid.

Bc theres a freedom of movement and no customs now

well you'll need renewed EU passports then, maybe that is something what is smart to do

do i understand it correctly with a hard border, you need to state details of the reasons of your visit into a EU country

because in some countries for example australia's border/customs system you have either ''tourist visa'' or a ''work visa''

unlike many on tibb, i remember life before the eu, when i used to travel across europe without issue. There is no danger of us requiring a visa to travel to europe. I already have a new British passport, so thats not an issue.

The economy of Calais relies on British day trips, they would never stop that.

Yes, life before the EU when the EU didn't exist and there were long established traditional borders to navigate and a system for doing so. I'm not sure what makes you think we'll instantly revert to that and have the ability to travel throughout the EU freely? Especially when the entire aim of Brexit is to stop people from other EU countries from travelling freely into Britain? Is it that old Empire attitude raising its head again? "Oh we'll be able to stop people coming into the UK - but WE can still go wherever we fancy without hurdles."

I'm sure there will indeed come to be easy Visa-free travel between the UK and EU countries... unfortunately there is absolutely NOTHING in place for us crashing out with no deal, and you may find that popping to France for the day isn't as easy as you'd hoped.
