A Conservative general election candidate in a key marginal seat wrote on social media that she believed people on the reality TV show Benefits Street needed “putting down”.

Francesca O’Brien, who was selected last month to stand in the target constituency of Gower, in south Wales, wrote a series of inflammatory comments about the Channel 4 programme on her Facebook page.

In posts that have since been deleted, she wrote in January 2014: “Benefit Street..anyone else watching this?? Wow, these people are unreal!!!”

In response to a friend’s comment, she wrote: “My blood is boiling, these people need putting down.”

In further comments under her post, O’Brien apparently endorsed a friend’s suggestion for “twat a tramp Tuesday” to “take your batts [sic] to the streets”.

Donald Trump has waded into British politics again, addressing the key question facing pro-leave right-wingers in the forthcoming general election.
The president said he hoped prime minister Boris Johnson, a “wonderful guy”, and Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage would come together on a united political platform.

That orange turd likes nothing better than election interference. Hope the impeachment shuts him up for good.

Don't politicise health service - NHS boss (Chris Hopson )
says

[Parties should not use the NHS
as "a political weapon"
in the election campaign, health service bosses say.
NHS Providers chief Chris Hopson
said "over dramatising NHS difficulties" or making
"disingenuous" funding claims did
the service "no favours".

Mr Hopson acts for health trust leaders
in England and urged politicians not
to make "empty promises" or create
"unrealistic expectations".
The NHS is set to become a
key battleground during the campaign.]

[Scottish Conservative MP Ross Thomson quits
after 'grope' claim by Labour MP Paul Sweeney

[MP Ross Thomson is to stand down
after being accused of sexually assaulting
a Labour MP in a Commons bar.
Mr Thomson said he had made the
"hardest decision of my life" not to
contest the seat for Aberdeen South
at the general election.

Labour MP Paul Sweeney had said he
reported Mr Thomson to Westminster's
standards watchdog following the
alleged incident last October.

Mr Thomson denies any wrongdoing.
But he said a number of
"anonymous and malicious allegations"
this year had made his life "a living hell".]

Downing Street has effectively blocked the publication of a potentially explosive parliamentary report on the security threat that Russia poses to the UK until after the general election.

The 50-page document from the intelligence and security committee (ISC) examines allegations that Kremlin-sponsored activity distorted the result of the 2016 EU referendum, but has to be cleared by No 10 before it can be released.
The Guardian

I hope this is the beginning of the unravelling of the Tories and their corruption. .. The british sense if fair play will not tolerate that, which is why they're fighting tooth and nail to keep it covert.
They'll lose, the truth will out, it always does.

it's far more widespread than the right wing, and it is very worrying. There is plenty evidence out there of russian interference and the details are being blocked or suppressed. There is clear evidence that the SNP has been compromised by russia too and no-one does a thing

Don't know what it's like elsewhere, but around here the electioneering propaganda doesn't come with the postman, it's usually hand-delivered by party volunteers for each party. Though it's very rare to get anything at all from anyone except SNP and Conservative... that's the only real battle in my area. I think Labour have conceeded that the bulk of the classic Labour vote has now transitioned to SNP.

Fresh evidence has also emerged of attempts by the Kremlin to infiltrate the Conservatives by a senior Russian diplomat suspected of espionage, who spent five years in London cultivating leading Tories including Johnson himself.
