Default Can an Opposition be a coalition?

I was pondering this the other day. Whoever the next Labour leader is, could s/he ask MPs from other parties to join the Shadow Cabinet, and to form a Coalition Party, but on the other side?

Obviously parties can band together however they want to effectively be a coalition of opposition (this is what we'll have with this government), however I doubt see the largest party would adopt MPs into shadow cabinet positions even if it were possible.

Tbh the entire Shadow Cabinet needs to be set to the backbenches. I'm sick of Thornberry's sneering face and Abbott's dementia and McDonnell's ... McDonnell making Labour look bad.

when the government have an 80 seat majority, the shadow cabinet become an even more meaningless group than when things are much closer.

Usually after a big defeat, the opposition take the opportunity to clear out the ranks and give new faces a chance to gain experience and get themselves known in the shadow cabinet. Unfortunately labour are in such a mess that I think this will be a 10 year process rather than the usual 5 as the old guard seem to still have power after an almighty defeat
