Questions will be asked when it’s tax payers money that’s been spent.

Would they be walking away if they had been embraced like William and Kate.

Let’s face it she came into a well established oraganisation and started making demands.

She couldn’t get her own way, so she is leaving.

...I wonder how that extra cash stash will be distributed now...maybe the other Royals will get a lovely, unexpected bonus, like Greggs staff...

And obviously the media will report it , so how were they going to step down without them knowing?? so i don't understand why people are saying they should of done it quietly . If you're in the public eye with this much fame under this much scrutiny and pressure how can something like this be kept a secret?? . Obviously the media will continue to throw hate sadly Harry & Meghan's way .

Harry was thinking about his family especially Meghan and he doesn't want her to go down the same route as his mum and they have their child to think about aswell , it was horrific the treatment Diana got. And Meghan has already received a ridiculous amount of abuse where she can't win no matter what she does.

Unfortunately i don't think they'll ever be able to live a quiet peaceful life as they'll always be apart of the royal family as it comes with the title sadly . And the press will continue to harass them. I just hope it's not as bad as it's been and hopefully when they settle wherever they decide to live things will calm down etc .
The press have said the Queen did know of their intentions, what she didn't know was of the press release coming when it did.

They need to move this on quite quickly or the backlash will only get worse.

I hope wherever they end up, they will be happy although they will never be able to live the quiet life I think Harry craves. I think they could have handled this better by doing it all behind closed doors and slowly extracting themselves from Royal life and scaling back on their but now these wheels are in motion, it needs to be a quick clean break.

They seem to be completely in love with each other and excellent parents so I hope they can carve out the life they want away from the constant media intrusion

Also people are quick to forget the pictures of Kate harry and William together smiling and happy.

The fall out is due to Megan plain and simple.

Typical of the American Meghan,

Yes leave Harry to talk to the Queen
is far better.

You can not have a Half in , Half out
Royal Family.
So best they take away their Titles

...far better that a solution is discussed in how this will all work out for them all in their way forward...maybe there can be a ‘half in/half out’ way, we don’t know that there can’t be and that it can’t be worked out to fit with everyone’s Royal future and personal needs...?....the truth of it is, without the younger generation Royals...(...which has always been a huge part of the country and world interest..)...the future of the monarchy is most definitely in question...trying to find a solution and preserve, makes sense over...‘let’s take it all away and take that, you two..’....you know that’s the wise move, Arista...

They cash they want to relinquish which is paid from the public purse is 5% of their income, the remaining 95% is from Charles estate, if they give it up it stays in the Treasury I assume

what I find very distasteful in all this is what Harry is doing to his Grandmother, Grandfather and father, taking away the Royal status, if this was an ordinary family, given Philip is in ill health, Liz is 93 and Charles is in his 70s and what they have had to put up with recently due to Andrews shenangins, he could have been a bit less selfish and sorted this out behind closed doors, if this was a joe bloggs family Harry and Meg would be on Jeremy Kyle slugging it out with the grandparents, instead its being played out on the front pages. I think this will finish off the already fragile relationship with Will as well, what a shame, I doubt Diana be want to see her boys torn apart in this way.

It does sound like some people in the Media will attack Meghan no matter what she does.

Imo I honestly don't get the obsession that the Media has of pitting Royal family members up against each other anyway.

the "media" is the people of the UK

its not some separate entity

every time you see "the media" mentioned just substitute the word for "the public"

(ie you, me and everybody on this forum)

well i don't recognize the media as the public

not in UK, and also especially not in my own country either

our showbiz reporters are everytime pro-british royals, but they never said anything negative about Meghan either, and they also understand Harry's reason in this decision, since they also closely followed all the drama around Princess Diana back then

So you are saying that "the media" in the UK and HOlland do not reflect the views of the people who read, watch and listen to them?

That is a rather unusual business model you have going there

They make programmes that are unpopular, run stories no one cares about and make shows that no one will watch?

Most people in the UK understand their reasons as well, what we don't understand is

(a) why they rushed out a statement before the details were hammered out

and

(b) why they want to retain the title, the house, the security, and 95% of Charles cash while stepping back, step back by all means, keep the security but hand back the titles and the house and say no to Charles cash, and off you pop

dutch media, have correspondents everywhere in the world basically

like any other country

but ours usually compete against each other, from public tv channel, and commercial tv channel

so who can bring the story first, and who has the best views for their shows

If they want to live without the privilege royalty brings , then they should just go,as things stand they are whipping up what they are trying to get away from, just cut loose,no perks, just do it,they can still see their family. They will never have to work anyway,so if that will make them happy ,they should go and be happy.
