I have no problem with the fee, better than all the ad breaks.
However, I do think it should be free for anybody on universal credit or genuinely hard up.

The fee isn’t really the issue, the issue is the channels constant refusal to stick by the guidelines set for them, they’re meant to be impartial and they’re anything but, either serve the people that pays for it, or stop taking money from everyone

Right and if the channel sorted itself out I think more people would be happy to pay the fee, so in the grand scheme of things, the fee isn’t the issue, the state of the channel is, imo

I think fewer people are bothered than you think. So long as Silent Witness and Strictly are on time.

There are a few programmes I watch on tv but there arent enough good programmes for the fee to be so expensive. Especially when I already pay over 100 quid a month for sky!

All that does is confirm that their bullying tactics and threats are the only reason the TV license scheme still works. It's a joke. We're now WELL into the 21st century, there are technological solutions to this... time to do away with over-the-air TV transmission and have it all via satellite or broadband, then they can remotely remove access for anyone who doesn't pay the fee and there'll be no need for fines and threats.

But of course, plenty of people will happily not have the BBC at all and they'll lose a tonne of money and we can't have that, can we? No no, some people think the BBC is excellent and watch it all the time and so, obviously, it's only right and fair that the people who aren't arsed about it pay for it for the people who love it. Makes perfect sense.

How about this; We let the 50% of people who don't want the BBC stop receiving the BBC and pay nothing, and the 50% who do want it can pay double and they won't lose any funding. They should be happy to do so. No?

How about we let childless people or people whose kids have left education pay less tax as they don’t use schools or receive child benefit!

...Cherie are you honestly comparing education to... telly? by all means, let's give ALL of the education budget to the beeb, I'm sure in 30 years when you need a doctor or a lawyer, one of the EastEnders cast will be happy to help .
