Default Investigation launched after video shows police officer hitting boy with baton...

An investigation has been launched after a video has emerged which appears to show a police officer hitting a teenager on the head with a baton.

It followed Saturday's South Yorkshire derby in the Championship between Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

Officers were responding to disorder outside the Barnsley Transport Interchange, South Yorkshire Police Chief Superintendent and match commander Sarah Poolman said.

"A full investigation, including extended video footage, will take place to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the actions that led to a 16-year-old boy sustaining a head injury from an officer's baton and an officer being assaulted, sustaining injuries to his stomach and head," she said...

That's a bit grim. The police are trained to keep cool in situations like that and deal with the situation proportionately. They shouldnt be allowed in active service

i expect no punishment, since it is a police officer, and sadly they never get sent to prison if they do anything wrong

Some do but not enough,

A Sargent got sacked for taking stuff out of seized property and selling it on eBay

A few years back a wpc and pc got sacked for dealing drugs.

"I blame TWD for depicting such graphic violence and influencing this officer into getting his inner-Negan out." Boris Johnson.

"Well I blame GTA for teaching grown adults how to whack people across the head with a Baseball Bat." Some nutjob from UKIP.

Being serious though, why the **** would a Police Officer just randomly assault a 16 year old? Is this another step into becoming the 51st State of America?

Edit... Obviously I went OTT at the end, but the US does genuinely have issues with their Police Force, we need to punish him severely over this imo.

some of the biggest thugs around are in the police force, it's always been that way because they can behave as they want and be on the right side of the law. The only thing that is shocking is that they didnt beat up the guy filming and take his phone.

I'm pretty sure they're meant to be trained NOT to hit people above a certain part of their body, no? Hitting people with a baton in the head is a big nono.

Hopefully there's lasting consequences for the officer, there's no excuse to use such force when your job is to maintain order, especially when it comes to teenagers.

Being a police officer is a difficult job and sadly it attracts a lot of power hungry people to the job, just look at America and their festering police brutality epidemic.
