Despite what I think about them, they do deserve the best security and that should be paid for by the uk.

I don't really understand, what's wrong with wanting to make travel sustainable? That's in everyone's benefit. To allow us all to travel, whilst lessening the environmental impact.

Why do people keep moaning about Harry & Meghan , just leave them to it . It seems they can't win no matter what they do

Some seem to resent them stepping down from Royal duties and moving away, and others seem to want them to disappear off the face of the earth.

Well news flash they will always be in the media because of who they are and I don't see the issue with it .

They definately need good security, no denying that, but I think they should contibute to the pot to bring costs down. Their security costs are estimated to spiral up to 40 million a year due to their reported intentions of travelling a lot, especially between Canada and the USA.
Labour MP Stephen Doughty (Cardiff South and Penarth) has brought the subject up in the Commons saying...

Quote:
I’m fully respectful of their right to choose a different path themselves, but the royal couple, Harry and Meghan, I understand there are some quite serious concerns being raised about the spiralling costs of policing and protection for them which could be apparently spiralling into tens to hundreds of millions of pounds.

“I find that deeply concerning because when we’re looking at some of the challenges faced in our own communities, people will rightly ask ‘where’s the money for our police officers? Should we be funding that security overseas?’

“And I think that’s a very reasonable question to be asking.”
Police budgets are already stretched to the limits, so he is right to be concerned.

Good thing the Royal Family have an income which is three times that of their expenditure.

If they start to generate the large sums of money thats been talked about them I think they should contribute.

But being a high security risk comes from being a senior member of the royal family and it’s not harry’s Fault.

They should pick up the tab for the extra costs for security this move will entail, they want normality, its normal to pay your own bills

Being a security risk because you where born into the royal family is not normality.

No, but they chose to leave and they want to support themselves, I am sure they will be happy to pick up the portion of the bill incurred by their move

At least they know Canada Police
are no longer going to be there in a few weeks
as they are not Royals.

Time to fit Cameras High on Tree's

Well I don’t think they will be happy about it, who likes paying bills.

I’m sure they will pay towards the extra security costs if this move into the unknown is successful.

Because I can’t really see what they have to offer

They will have a royal protection team still with them that has not stopped because they have been in Canada it’s just a matter of who is paying for it.

of course they will have a protection team with them, but the fact is the cost of that team will increase as they travel more for work? as they earn their own money its only fair they pay a portion. As it stands you and I will be paying for it while they earn millions for themselves and appear not to want to pay a penny, maybe that is not the case time will tell

I can’t see how they are going to make millions? What is the big draw?

Are they going to do a spice girl tribute act, Meghan as Mel b, harry as ginger spice in a Union Jack dress and Archie as baby spice and the nanny as Mel c.

They have already said they expect their security to be paid for, I can't be bothered to look for a link, I think they said they would pay some IF they become commercially successful whatever that means

I think they will do very well tbh, people a lot less well known than Harry get tons for after dinner speeches, and I would imagine Meghan would be well paid to return to acting even if just for one movie

Certainly for the foreseeable they will be hot property. A Prince who has divorced himself from the Royal family AND is Princess Diana's son is going to be in demand for various charities, brands etc. Meghan has contacts and will do the rounds of the American talk shows. They will not be unemployed imho.

Yes, Harry got paid $750,000 recently for talking about Diana dying and his subsequent mental health problems at a JP Morgan conference and is in talks with big bankers Goldman Sachs for more of the same. IMO he's profiting from his mothers death here.

Yes I can see them making money in the short term, but every thing has a shelf life.

If Harry started fighting in the ufc then he would break all records.

The Nanny wouldn't be there long enough to learn her part. How many have they gone through now I wonder lol

cough up 10% towards your security for every fee paying event, it's not difficult

Well, if they stopped being hypocrites; stopped making digs at the queen and treated her with the respect she deserves; stopped expecting the tax payers to fund their massive security bills without contributing themselves; stopped wanting their cake and eating it and stopped playing the victims, then we would gladly leave them to it.
