What?

So is it about the £28b not being on the manifesto, or is it the fact it's for "green" things that's the issue?

I'm not sure how to break this to you, but hurting the poorest in society is now, and has always been, a political choice. It's never been a necessity. There is more than enough to go round for everyone to live extremely comfortably.

BBC News Text:
[Labour's decision to scrap a pledge to
spend £28bn a year on green investment
if it wins the next election.
The Financial Times says the change is part
of an attempt to
"draw a line under a political dispute over
how much [the] party would borrow
if it returned to power".
It adds that party leader Sir Keir Starmer
sought to pin the blame for the U-turn
on financial constraints following
Liz Truss's premiership in 2022,
quoting him saying that "as conditions change,
you adjust your position".]

BBC News Text:
[The Guardian reports that Keir Starmer
is facing a fresh test of his authority as
MPs prepare to vote on a
second parliamentary motion calling
for an "immediate" ceasefire in Gaza next week.
The Labour leader and his officials will
spend the next few days deciding how
to handle a Scottish National Party motion
on the Middle East crisis, after the party's
abstention on a similar vote in November
triggered a "huge split" in the party and
10 front-bench resignations, the paper adds.]

A lack of investment in "green" will hurt everyone, and I don't trust any current politician that the money would otherwise go toward helping the poor.

People don't seem to realise that it is the people who can least afford it, end up paying for everything. So if the government say, we need to invest in green, it is the poor that pay for it. It is not pals of the government, they profit from it.

Who won all the contracts during covid? The pals of the government. Who ended up paying for it? The poor. Who couldn't get urgent hospital treatment because of the covid generated waiting lists? The poor

I don't know how anyone can remain so naive after all that in the last couple of years

"Labour aren't going to steal from pensioners" shouldn't be front page news.

Just saw GB news, 'Keir Starmer rubbing his hands with glee', and then I saw David Lammy.

Apparently the Speaker is in deep trouble
