There are a few of us in work who really got into past Big Brothers we all had strong feelings last year and found almost all the housemates enjoyable the year before.
This year none of us can give a monkeys. When the nation is reduced to supporting a real herbert like Jon (sorry anyone called Herbert but you know what I mean) because the only life in the house is him annoying people, it really comes to something. I watched tonight's eviction show. Even Davina McCall sounded like she was bored witless. On the E4 coverage, I find the texts across the bottom of the screen annoying, and a large number relating to Justine about her weight were downright offensive, sadly reflecting much of the newspaper coverage. Still at 25p a go Endemol must be coining it in. And considering I doubt whether I've watched an hour of E4 coverage so far, that is saying something. Oh and what is the point of a mobile phone poll asking whether people agree with the vote that just took place? 25p a go. That's the point! The producers have got greedy. They selected a bunch of airheads hoping they would have sex on TV. They've got what they deserve. The show is rubbish this year and I really can't be bothered! BTW I'm trying to junk Windows on my computer and I am posting this from Linux. I am learning all about it and sorry it is far more interesting than BB4. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

While Endemol / C4 continue to run this show
While desparate wannabees willingly submit themselves to this humiliation, sometimes against their best interests. While the powers that be continue to take advantage of these wannabees. Whilest gouls surround like those in ancient times who cried out for blood at the gladitorial games. Whilst the red top tabloids continue to wreck lives. Some of us will care Some of us will make sure we are involved so some of us will have the right to call those who would abuse their authority to account. |

I'm sorry oldgit, but I'm really enjoying Big Brother this year, the housemates are a refreshing change from last year where drunken debauchery was the norm.
If we like the fact that Jon is boring, or that Cameron is an alien from planet polite, or that the girls seem more interested in sharing make-up than sexual conquest stories then great as far as I'm concerned! Last year was an assault on all my senses so I'm quite happy this year to watch some - dare I say it - normality!!! ![]() |

oldgit has summed it up in a nutshell. I could not agree more. They are killing the goose that lays the golden egg and the public are helping hook line and sinker.
E4 coverage in tatters. A boring person is the latest novelty facor. How boring and really quite sad that is. ![]() ![]() This year will see the end of the BB format as we know it if not the end completely. And I am beginning to believe that would not be a bad thing all round. ![]() |

Well I definitely side with the vast majority of people on here who are thoroughly enjoying this years BB.
It is so refreshing to watch nice normal people, people who I am sure I would get on with in real life. Last years show with its obnoxious set of housemates very nearly put me off the program altogether but this years has got me hooked again. |

Housemates "having sex on TV" was thought up solely by the gutter press and was definitely not the reason they were chosen. I think that, this year, the producers have gone out of their way to select a bunch of perfectly average people, instead of the wannabees they had last year. I am thoroughly enjoying watching these "normal" people interacting with one another. I don't find Jon in the least bit "boring". I think he is intelligent and extremely funny in his own individual way. This year, Big Brother has exceeded all my expectations and I am enjoying every single minute of it. I hope it will be back, in the same format, for many years to come. ![]() |

Hi again, I had to get up early this morning to dismantle the bed for the carpet fitters. They've just been. Whilst I was waiting I watched kid's TV. Oh and I was 49 last week.
Last year or the year before I would have had E4 on. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I have to say that I know nobody in my life away from the computer who likes this year's BB. It could improve, who's to say it won't? It's just that unless someone brings it to my attention I won't be around to see it. As for the format, I am not criticising that, it was more like BB2. And I don't think we should necessarily blame BB3 housemates for getting ratarsed when C4 threw so much booze at them, I sure the same may have happened with BB1, 2 and 4 if that was the case. The housemates are probably normal, nice people. I see them everyday. I don't need TV for that. Last year by this time we already had Alison breaking the table in the garden, Alison leading the "Love Train", send ups of Jerry Springer, Sunita leaving after refusing to hide in the drawer because she's a trainee barrister, Jade and Sunita arguing, Lynn getting stroppy with Spencer, Alex having a go at Sunita because she didn't join in, and "weegate".... The year before we had the Mad Penny fortnight, Truth or Dare (where Paul prophetically said he would sleep with Helen), the Brian and Narinder show, Paul scooping up H and carrying her to the den because she kept going on about Big G, Stuart and Penny's row... All we've got this year are 11 bores and one downright annoying person. The boys are all chauvinistic and the girls all seem to be the type that prefer them that way, yet the boys and girls are barely talking to each other! Give me Jonny and Kate getting drunk any day! (An opinion, of course!) |

I know Oldgit, I agree to some extent.
I am at home at the moment, and I have barely watched it at all. I am hoping things will 'hot up' a bit as the series progresses. I do like most of them though, whereas I didn't like last years at all. I must admit there was a stage with this one when I thought they would all start singing 'Michael Row the boat ashore'! ![]() Don't despair.........Jon is going to be worth watching |

I sort of veer between thinking BB4 a dreadful bore and enjoying it this year. I'm entertained by the Channel 4 shows including BBLB, but I must say I think the interactive coverage is absolutely appalling. The endless ticker messages are either banal or downright offensive and the constant polls are so blatently a money making device designed to sucker in countless numbers of very young people. So, I agree with you partly, but the saving grace is that you never quite know what will happen next. So, I live in hope, Oldgit. It is better than last year in my opinion and will probably get better soon.

Well I am enjoying it .... my OH has started watching BB - even the Live broadcasts on C4 (As poor people we don't have E4 - tho maybe it's better looking forward to coverage.)
We even had a 'Why do people like Jon' conversation over the breakfast table this morning ........well, the football season IS over!!! I like the fact that BB4 HM are a different collection of characters. I like the fact that Jon is odd (I even had a chat with 5 year olds yesterday about him) - it's good to see that the charcater of a HM is not set in stone - or it would get boring if we had the same antics year after year! |

Oldgit's got a point about somethings, more did happen in the first few weeks on the last bb's, but I'm still watching and I like the housemates as well this year. There different to what's been before, more middle class yes. But I find them ok, Jon's really different and we British like our eccentrics. I'm waiting for Cameron to do a Ray and lose it, now that is worth waiting to see.

Apathy steve, I think ! That might be what is causing the lack of 'posters'.
However, my opinion......I hated last years BB. I can't bear people arguing and fighting in the name of entertainment and the drunkeness worrried me too. I still watched quite a lot blush: This year I have not been able to watch much so far. Unlike Blinkinlovely my OH has an absolute 'down' on all shows of this kind and an armed neutrality takes place before I can get near it. Last year I was ill at home for the 1st part and he at work long hours. This year he has retired after redundancy and I am at work not ill! It's a hard life. I am still enjoying the bits I see and think it will get better. I live in hope as with ALL THINGS ! ![]() |

A very close friend of mine has a daughter who is a complete BB addict. But not this year I am afraid. The majority on this forum may like it but in the big wide and real world people are just plain uninteresed.
It wouldn't be so bad if you could see the light at the end of the tunnel in the sense that something interesting is brewing and there for have something to lookforward too. But there just aint anything happening exept Jon talk and more Jon talk and more Jon talk. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I watched a fair bit today while I was waiting for my washing machine to be repaired and there were some really good conversations about the food situation.
First between Jon and Nush, then between Nush and Steph, then between Nush, Steph, Tania, Cameron and Jon. There are definitely tensions creeping in. |

Well, for what it's worth (not much) I really like this Big Brother and I didn't like last year's.
Indeed, a lot happened at the beginning of BB3, but much of it wasn't good, like Sunita leaving (I doubt she would have quit this one or BB2) and I doubt that many of the events that happened at the start of 3 would have taken place if the cameras weren't there. I find the people in the house much more likeable this year. Don't expect instant results and we'll get much more realistic stories developing. I haven't been able to watch as much as I would like, or posted here much because I haven't had time, but I'll probably subscribe to the live streaming soon. |
