They are now suggesting players could play in masks

10 neutral stadiums could be used, teams at the bottom are saying it's not fair in terms of sporting integrity and Home advantage, and that the threat of relegation is removed so what is the point then?

Are the utd fans not expecting European football ahead of Sheffield Utd despite the Blades have a game in hand?

Let's say we just null and void this season (which is a bizarre thing to even suggest), then what happens if the next 3 years all seasons get to 29 games before another flare up?

That's 120 pl games in 4 years with not one champion. Far better to take as long as needed to finish every season in turn, so we might end up with only 2 completed seasons but they take 3 years to complete.

All the people campaigning for null and void want a new league to start in August now you tell me where the sense in that is?

They should just announce Liverpool as the winners because they are miles ahead in points

+1

yes i mean it's Obvious Liverpool are champions this season anyway with that huge gap with second place

i think the teams who can more benefit from playing all remaining matches are those in relegation danger zone

and the borderline Europa league ticket position too i guess

I disagree because we need to take multiple seasons into account. What if city are 5 points ahead at the same stage next season, or united 8 points ahead? I know Liverpool are so far ahead it's not relevant this year, but it could be next year, so you can't just arbitrarily decide to hand out championships based on the lead the team in 1st place has. Competitions need integrity, and you only get that by completing them.

They do are scrabbling about trying to appease their paymasters and it's pretty desperate.
I can't see crowds returning till 2021, after the vaccine.
Either null and void or award as stands, thwir is no other way

a league competition continuing now after such a long break has no integrity. The greater integrity comes from positions as they were when the shutdown happened. That affects all teams equally. That to me is the only legitimate conclusion. Those in relegation zones cant complain because that reflected their performance for 3/4 of the season.

There’s no proper european football anytime soon. Let’s be real.

And you realise if season was complete we most likely would have finished top 4 in CL, not Europa? Who really cares about this right now though. I’m fine with taking 5th or 6th instead if need be.

It's also kinda selfish to think Corona is the only thing worth protecting against, what about the High level of suicides by people struggle to move away from what is their normal life and stay locked inside or domestic abuse victims that could be saved because their partner had an interest in something else for a period of time

A league competition finishing now (even based on current standings), yet starting up again in september doesn't have more credibility because they've started something new, it has less because it didn't finish the last one.

A really bizarre opinion (not you) that just cancelling and starting again without knowing the next one can be completed is a better way forward.

I mean. We’ve had a 2 month break during the season. We are going to have home advantage for huge games down the stretch absolutely wiped away for certain teams. Players contracts will have legally expired during a season of play. Essentially any team not called Liverpool who can win their title or a team fighting for a european place will not give a crap about the final games(especially without relegation).

It’s far from a “normal” end to the season regardless. It’s abit of a joke of an end if anything.

So we null and void or hand liverpool the trophy. What about the relegations and promotions? And what happens if we start in September and by October, the virus is rampaging worse than ever as we're properly out of lockdown and back in crowds?

Home advantage isn't written in contracts, but pretty much the rest of football is.

then delay the new season start till january, february 2021, and play matches on tuesday, wednesday and weekends, just a lot more intense work schedule, let them work for their millions for once

It's not about footballers working for their money, Nicky. So we delay till January, then it Willem II's captain infects 5 of his teammates and 2 coaches, then what? He's also been in contact with 3 other football teams since he became symptomatic.

My point is that no one knows how long this disruption could potentially go on for, so just starting up again when we have no idea whether it's possible to complete half of a season, let alone a full one seems a bit misplaced.

RKC, Ajax have resumed training again (or at least staying in good condition, more training with social distancing)

have any teams in england resumed that sort of social distancing training too, just to stay in good form?

i mean ok team sports are very risky, however these players all need to remain in form somehow

sports like Tennis, Golf where social distancing measures can be applied to, could work if it's ''safe enough'' at some point, health comes first but i also agree with some experts of ATP/WTA (who had a video chat few weeks back Mats Wilander, Simona Halep, Boris Becker, Tommy Haas) that sportspeople need to remain in form somehow, and no matches at all is not good for anyone, everyone is aware health comes first but we also gotta look what's possible in a while (in calm moments of a summer potentially what they had been saying) i mean

team sports are a no go for me personally these times (so that for me also includes football)

i think after vaccine it could be possible to resume, and Trump said they could have vaccine end of the year he said in interview with FOX News at lincoln memorial i saw on news

Trump also told Dr Birx to look into disinfecting peoples lungs, so I'd take anything he says with a giant pinch of salt

I’m not a Liverpool supporter but I feel gutted for them if they cannot goon to win the Premiership after all their hard work. My husbands Sunday team in which both my boys play we’re leading the board but it’s all been abandoned...although they will be playing their finals later on in the year.

Now there are talks that games will be 80mins and with 5 substitutes.

And yet some will still tell us that the season must end for the integrity of the league
