The announcement of the aid to the arts is really welcome.
On the financial matters of this pandemic, the government has done really well. A pity it wasn't designed to ensure no one slipped through the net as a good number appear to have done. Overall however, for the financial packages put in place, I applaud their efforts. Because frankly, I didn't expect such a generous response from this government. So I do concede they've done really well on this so far. The aid to the arts is great news, so on this a thank you and a well deserved one too, to the government and Rishi Sunak particularly. Who for me, still remains the only shining light from the start. Last edited by joeysteele; 06-07-2020 at 08:00 AM. |

i think this recession is going to be very different from every other one we have had, and social care will never be thought of in the same terms again. I have no idea how it is all going to pan out yet, but I am hopeful that we have all had the wake up call that was needed.

few scientists/experts (including from Netherlands) have brought new ''information'' forward to the WHO, that the virus might also be transmitted via breathing, not just coughing or sneezing, so 1.5 metres or 2 metres distance isn't just enough, but then you also must wear a face mask
so far WHO haven't responded to these findings one of our dutch lead experts is Maurice De Hond, he basically Always had this opinion of the virus also going airborne through breathing, not just coughs or sneezes sad times for Maurice too, he recently lost his son Marc to cancer at quite young age still of 42

This if true, is shocking but is as big an issue for the government as it is Councils.
How did no one know anything about it, if true. Also why not. However government make employment laws, they should ensure all is done to the law. Or is this a practice acceptable to the government in fact. Labour doesn't control Leceister, it runs and represents it. Absolutely, I say again if true,Labour MPs need to address this. How have they not been informed of it however, then raised it with the government. Who are the body really to have to do something about these practices. Covid-19 may not have originated in China, Oxford University expert believes...
Coronavirus may have lain dormant across the world and emerged when the environmental conditions were right for it to thrive rather than starting in China, an Oxford University expert believes. Dr Tom Jefferson, senior associate tutor at the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM), at Oxford and a visiting professor at Newcastle University, argues there is growing evidence that the virus was elsewhere before it emerged in Asia. Last week, Spanish virologists announced that they had found traces of the disease in samples of waste water collected in March 2019, nine months before coronavirus was seen in China. Italian scientists have also found evidence of coronavirus in sewage samples in Milan and Turin in mid-December, many weeks before the first case was detected, while experts have found evidence of traces in Brazil in November. ..more story... https://uk.yahoo.com/news/covid-19-m...143843728.html |

I’m not convinced .. we’ve already read about that British guy who had it in Sept/Oct when he was living in Wuhan .. he was desperately poorly for weeks and weeks and was told by their medics months later that he’d had a Coronavirus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Satellite photography showed a build up of hospital traffic in Wuhan months before China admitted there was a problem, so it stands to reason that folk that visited there and then went onward to other places spread it as they went.
I remember back in March/April where they said the number of infected was going to hit 1 million soon, it stands at 11.4 million today Last edited by bitontheslide; 06-07-2020 at 03:16 PM. |

A number of pubs in England have closed after customers tested positive for coronavirus.
At least three establishments announced they had shut their doors again just days after reopening at the weekend. They were among hundreds of venues that welcomed customers for the first time in three months as lockdown measures were eased. Crowds descended in some towns and cities, prompting fears social distancing was being disregarded. The affected pubs announced their closures via Facebook. The Lighthouse Kitchen and Carvery in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, said it was "slowly" working through a list of customers who had left details at the weekend. In Batley, West Yorkshire, the Fox and Hounds said a customer had phoned to say they had tested positive for coronavirus. The pub said staff had taken tests and the venue would be deep-cleaned prior to reopening. Meanwhile the Village Home Pub in Alverstoke, Hampshire, said some staff were isolating due to "a case of coronavirus in the pub". It told customers who had visited at the weekend there was "no need to isolate" unless they showed symptoms or were contacted by tracers. All three pubs had previously posted about implementing new social distancing and safety guidelines in line with government advice. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-53315702 |

A Spanish study has cast doubt on the feasibility of herd immunity as a way of tackling the coronavirus pandemic.
The study of more than 60,000 people estimates that around just 5% of the Spanish population has developed antibodies, the medical journal the Lancet reported. Herd immunity is achieved when enough people become infected with a virus to stop its spread. Around 70% to 90% of a population needs to be immune to protect the uninfected. The prevalence of Covid-19 antibodies was below 3% in coastal regions, but higher in areas of Spain with widespread outbreaks, the report said... ...full story... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53315983 ......Better Call Boris... |
