No More Amateur Sports for these current times until further notice, also the parliament thinks it is better for people to only use public transport if really necessary

indoors only gatherings now of a maximum of 30 people

outdoors just 4 people next to each other

for pubs, bars, restaurants again new stricter measures but for now not sure what measures will be (tomorrow will be revealed in press conference)

[The Liverpool City Region will be on the
"very high" Covid alert level from Wednesday
,
Boris Johnson has announced.
Confirming a new three-tier lockdown system,
the PM said pubs, bars and betting shops
will close on Merseyside.
Most areas of England will be on "medium" alert,
with measures like the rule of six,
but areas with local restrictions
on household mixing are automatically on "high" alert.

The PM said all retail outlets, schools
and universities will remain open.

It came after England's deputy chief medical officer,
Prof Jonathan Van-Tam, said growth in Covid cases
was a "nationwide phenomenon"
and that "things are heating up"
in areas beyond northern England.]

Covid across Europe: As UK prepares for new lockdowns,
Europe too is struggling

That Link has Nickys Nation.

["Very bad" was Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte's assessment
on Friday of how his country is faring.
An understatement perhaps, given the Netherlands
has one of the worst infection rates in Europe - almost 6,000 new cases
recorded on Thursday, writes Anna Holligan, in The Hague.]

Sadly Liverpool
has the highest Covid-19 folks in Hospital
so they have had to cancel some normal operations
in hospitals.

The PM is still answering questions
in Parliament, it is due to end around 5:50PM.

Next Year in England
All A-levels will now be 3 weeks later

Normal for many viruses to be honest, e.g. measles is (usually) much milder in children, Chicken Pox isn't a worry in kids but can have serious complications in adults (shingles), etc.

If you look at the graphs Covid isn't really a serious threat right up to the mid-40's, and even then it's quite rare for it to be "severe" right up until 60+, with obviously 75+ being the real risk category. It is fairly standard for respiratory illnesses to be worse the older you get.

Professor Chris cited a group of contributory factors

Mixing indoors

In crowed environments

Mixing with people not in your household

Not wearing masks

... he’s just described schools ...
