My point would be that if you open up slowly, as in fact other Nations would have been well advised to I think. Then you guage the change and reaction to doing so. Then if problems arise, slow it back down or arrest it effectively. There was so much from one moment next to nothing, to then get back out there, open up the shops, open up the bars and restaurants, offering half price meals to push people out. Then get back to offices and fill the towns and cities. Doing nothing until stronger regional restrictions needed, which haven't worked effectively enough in many areas. To now having to be where we're at now again. Caution all the way until we can, and IF this lot ever again to really set out to, to protect the more vulnerable and elderly that want to be. Few seem bothered about them. My Mum has me thankfully. Many elderly have no one. This government removed the rug of official protection at a stroke from under their feet, of those who had relied on it and STILL wanted it. They haven't yet, and even yesterday failed to do anything again, or EVEN OFFER to, to protect those vulnerable and elderly. Who are the ones again, losing their lives again at the rate of over 1000 a week again. People can ignore that if they wish, I'm not prepared to. Those who want officially recognised protection and support should have it as a right, in a pandemic such as this. It's disgusting. Clearly not enough sick and elderly lost to satisfy yet. Surely that’s how governments have carried on for the last 50 or so years It’s always been balmy .. I still don’t know why we can’t let scientists, economists and intellectuals run the damn country.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Zizu; 01-11-2020 at 01:41 PM. |

also regarding england's second lockdown, why not immediately and why wait until wednesday what i made out of what Boris said, that they must first debate about it at parliament
i mean why, the sooner you react the more lives you can save, the sooner you can begin in slowing down the spread, or am i wrong?

Apparently Nicky. I don't agree with this by the way. Lockdowns aren't to save lives, it's to protect the NHS. I was told I didn't understand lockdowns. However like yourself I do see it as saving lives too. I didn't see the point of raising why an announcement so urgently needed on Saturday. Because of the rising crisis. Needs another 4 whole days to be implemented. I guess he needs time, after all it's taken him 6 weeks to get round to it. (Odd how the first absolute lockdown was announced on a Monday night, commencing from midnight that day too). So no you're not wrong in my view. He said it himself the UK PM, at the end of his press briefing yesterday.. As he repeated. Stay home, protect the NHS and SAVE LIVES. However he missed off,not fto worry, it's NOT for another 4 days yet. Incredible. |

Again, people were complaining about actions not being debated in parliament, now they are and ... people are complaining about that
Business needs time to shut down, it's only fair, they need to prepare for the lockdown. Also worth noting that we are not close to the figures we were at in March yet, we are just projecting that we could be in a few weeks if people don't social distance. This is not on the government. Each and every one of us must take responsibility and social distance |

The vote when it comes is a foregone conclusion.
His party will support it, Labour has said it will. He's not holding a vote until Wednesday. Debating is important however this is already overdue. It was called for nearly 6 weeks ago on 21st September. It was more urgently called for over 3 weeks ago on 8th October. How much time does he need to get round to eventually doing the vitally important things necessary. He's had weeks, nearly 6 of them, almost 2 months of just huffing and puffing, he'd not do this. Now he has to. Yet he still gets defended. Playing with the vulnerable and elderly citizens lives in the process. That's something I'll not stop or get sick of saying because it's shocking. Not to fully maximise all protection possible for those in the greatest danger. Delaying doesn't protect, it leaves more danger open. |

That's only a presumption. . We have no evidence of that do we? Labour have not been in power for a long time. New labour a agree began the trend of moving management into traditionally clinically experienced positions within the NHS, that was a bad move too.

We were aware, business should have prepared then not buried their head in the sand. Boris can't stop this and worse he exacerbated it with his 'eat out to help out' scheme. Figures clearly show spikes where the uptake on this was seen and it has been estimated that the rise in covid cases in those areas was as high as 17%. The public have always been in favour of lock down, during the first wave the support was over 90%.. even now it's over 80% ( according to yougov) so people are not sick of lock down they are as willing as ever to fight this. It's only a minority that oppose measures and that could be simply because of inconsistencies in approaches across the UK. Now we have a more joined up approach I think that those opposed will reduce. I'd like to say your blind faith is commendable. ..but I can't.
