I assume its one area (not thole city)
near the Food factory or something

In Germany (near a Food factory)
they fenced them all inside their flats.
They got angry ,but Police stood by the fences

I think the smallest lockdown that has any chance of staying civil is regional, if they try to shut down cities or worse, sections of cities, things will sour fast.

To lockdown Leicester they need to quarantine the whole of the East Midlands .

if they see a spike in an area and don't have the data to narrow it down, they need to lock down a region, that's the only way to contain it. It's going to be fun when London is affected which it surely will be

yes, in Germany it is no longer national, but more locally still having few peaks of covid cases whom are immediately quarantined

they can be angry for sure, but it is of high importance they stay isolated from rest of the country for 2 weeks at least

meanwhile in rest of country where it is ''corona-free'' or lesser at the moment they went to beaches again (although criticism there too from doctors, medical experts who see the regulations aren't in place at all times)

To be fair, that's only just now hitting 100% of GDP (when total debt equals total GDP) which many western nations hit decades ago. The US hit 100% GDP 9 years ago. Some are far in excess.

If you were to put it in "individual" terms (which you can't really do; it's a clunky comparison), it's like a person with a Ł50k salary having Ł50k of debt, which is neither unusual nor worrying.

Also, you worry about paying national debt when economies are booming, and try not to get too anxious about it when things are tight - again similar to personal finances. When you're in crisis you shouldn't sit there fretting about bills - you should just remember to actually start paying them when things are good. That's the part that was overlooked last time. When the economy was surging, we didn't make efforts to reduct debt OR increase productivity. In individual terms, we spashed our excess income on holidays and take-aways. We neeed to remember to NOT do that next time the graphs start heading upwards.

We don't need to start taking debt-reducing efforts during a financial and health crisis. It's not a pressing concern.

Test & Trace only works at low infection levels, so could only work when the infrastructure for it already existed from the outset... there wasn't a realistic way for the UK to have an effective tracing system up and running before the numbers were too high for it to be usable.

Of course, we're now getting towards the point where one WOULD be usable but still haven't managed to set up an effective one... so that's a separate problem.

Vietnam had virus eliminated after no deaths (few miracle recoveries there, those people who still have trouble breathing, very damaged lungs but can now at least breathe on their own without usage of ventilator)

Greenland had virus eliminated after no deaths (but had only 11 infected whom were immediately quarantined and successfully treated)

Boris also said this morning that Weston-super-mare was in a lockdown and it was going well, unfortunately someone forgot to tell the people living there as they had no idea.

I think he meant the hospital not taking any further patients when staff were ill
