I think what Resi 7 benefited from was having a brand new protagonist as it gave the franchise a more fresh perspective I think which was needed in the franchise.

That worked really well too, it helped that he was an everyman, who had never been in a situation like this before, it helped harken back to the days of old. I wonder if Ethan is more battle hardened in RE8?

I agree Scarlett.

I would imagine so, because the events in his first Game will have probably toughened him up for his second Game I reckon.

And it looks like Ethan and Chris weren't fully seeing eye to eye on one of the trailers too which is interesting to me.

The showcase outside of the Village stuff was utter dirge but Village is looking excellent. RE7 for me, was a top tier RE game, and so I'm excited to see what they do next. I'm planning on getting a PS5 sometime in April so this game will be a Day 1 purchase when it's released a while later.

I think I believe Capcom said at some point that Chris trains Ethan between the games, so that's why Ethan seems a lot more capable this time around.

I imagine by this point he's been recruited into Blue Umbrella, by Chris

I have STILL never finished Resi 7 . I might plough through it for the story on PC, throw an infinite ammo trainer on it or something so I can just blitz through... I was enjoying the story more than the gameplay. I'm not actually the biggest fan of the switch to first person, I wish they'd gone back to Over The Shoulder like the REmakes.

Good luck I've all but given up hope, they're being scalped by shopping bots... it'll be impossible to get one until the market is saturated. Might be OK by April I guess!

Honestly at this point if big PS5 exclusives start coming out I might just pay over the odds . I hate enabling scalpers though.

I might buy one from a scalper then petition it on eBay, put a crack in the plastic on the back or summat (purely cosmetic) and then ask for a partial refund .

*disclaimer: obviously I would NEVER actually commit such fraud.

There was a PS4 gameplay video released a few days back.

It doesn't look like a massive downgrade from the next gen footage we've seen so it'll probably be an option if you don't have a PS5 by then, plus I think they've already said a free upgrade will be included so you'll be able to upgrade when you do.

As for getting a PS5, my advice would be to watch out for Argos, I got mine from there and it was pretty easy, plus they offer same day delivery for like £3.

Likely differences will be lower framerate and fewer/lesser lighting effects; we're only in "early days" new console territory, the devs take a while to catch up and we won't see the full potential of the PS5 for another couple of years.

As far as I can tell it's just the exact same flavour of RE Engine as Resi 7 so if you were happy enough with how that looked/played on PS4, this is going to run exactly the same. On PS5 it'll be the same but with a few extra bells and whistles. We won't see big differences on the PS5 until games are being built for next-gen game engines (so probably no last-gen version at all).

One thing you have to watch with that is that not every game has transferrable saves when you upgrade from PS4 to PS5... it's hit and miss, some have it and some you'd need to start again from the beginning. Also trophies don't transfer between versions (if such things are important to you) so if you get say 30% of a game's trophies on PS4, then the other 70% after transferring the save to PS5, you won't get 100%/the platinum... you'll have to replay the start of the game to get the other 30% of the trophies.

I played the Re:Verse beta today, it's utterly terrible.

It's a shame they abandoned Resistance so quickly, they'd have been better off shipping an upgraded Resistance with Village than that dirge Verse ****.

I'd like to see them do Outbreak in the style of the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, but I was very fond of Resistance. It's a real shame they didn't try to sustain it. They definitely should have released a version of it separate from RE3 at some point and tried to turn it into a free to play game. It would have done quite well since the core concept of it was very fun.

The Village part of the demo was quite good, it felt very brief but it was an interesting taster. I'm looking forward to the Castle Demo.

Speaking of which, IGN have confirmed that Lady D and her daughters will actually take the role of Mr. X styled stalker enemies that will patrol the castle in real time while you're going about exploring it.

Mehhh I hope it's not constant. Like it's fun in places but I do also like being able to explore areas unharassed and take them in, it's becoming a bit of a "thing" to trade the ability to do that in Resi for the "constant threat of a scary" which in my opinion stops the story from ebbing and flowing like it should. Constant tension just becomes "the norm" which makes it all LESS tense... you need more straightforward sections to make the "highs" actually high.

It'll be like Mr. X, I expect, they'll be active at parts but other times you'll be fighting Lycans and those zombie creatures. I was expecting Capcom to treat her like they did with Nemesis in the remake and make her and her daughters part of set pieces rather than a constant threat.

From the clips of the recently revealed previews that I've seen, I don't think they'll be constant pursuers like Mr. X was in the police station. It sounds like they might patrol around certain areas and part of the gameplay in the castle will be drawing their attention elsewhere so you can solve puzzles and such.

One of the best things about Resi 2 Remake on the PC is the number of Mr X mods out there.

The reviews came out and so far they seem universally positive.

I won’t get it on Friday because I have Digital Edition and my broadband is BROKEN *bawling*. Getting about half speed, basically ZERO upstream (about 0.2mb) and it cuts out every few minutes. I have unlimited 4g and tethering which is fine fire work thankfully but downloading a 50gig+ game might be asking a bit much...
