I think since December the "novelty" of Boris the Funnyman has worn off quite quickly for most people. It turned out to not be all that funny. So "boring" is probably a plus.

I never saw Labour winning an election outright under Corbyn.
I could have seen another hung parliament however.

While yes, brexit was the main issue at the last 2 elections, the confusion around it was all over the place and the division from it.

However, one of the main reasons, aside from Labours failure in 2019, for the government sitting with an 80 overall majority.
Was the delusion and incompetence of Jo Swinson and her mish mash of former MPs of other parties.

The message is there for me.
The Lib Dems are not to be trusted.
Labour yes, needs to formulate a much stronger, more ambitious too set of policies for after this pandemic.

Even this early on, all I can see is at best another possibly hung parliament next time.
The Lib Dems need to have a leader who IS willing to work with either party that could lead in government.

Not dismiss personalities, or fence sitting as the Lib Dems do in all elections.
With their last inept, pathetic leader Swinson claiming she could be Prime Minister.

She got the whole even brexit issue wrong.
Which they thought was their strongest card to play.
However she'd already had her party demonstrate, they wouldn't consistently work with other parties, to achieve their aims.

Maybe Layla Moran would be a better choice.
The Lib Dems though, have to stop sitting on the fence in elections, then any chance they get, more support the Cons.
Or in effect by their actions, seem to help larger majorities for the Cons in elections.

If the Lib Dems are in the wilderness now after really blowing their great opportunity in 2010.
Then they are there deservedly so.

Voters though, need to still grasp the message, under this ridiculous and awful voting system, if you don't want a Con government, you need to vote Labour.
If you don't want a Labour one, then you need to vote Conservative.

That's still the case.
It likely will be until one major party breaks ranks, and decides a yes to PR.
Which I hope Labour will now more seriously consider as policy.

For voters, Con ones particularly, all Jo Swinson can be heralded for, is the fact Johnson sits with that 80 overall majority.
The main thing, the Lib Dems and those who left Labour and Con parties as MPs didn't want.
That's her legacy of her campaign and of course Labour's failure to get their much too crowded set of policies across.
In an election where really, probably most were only interested in getting brexit out the way, once and for all.
Yet still under 44% only, of those who voted, voted Conservative.

Y'know, up to the 2019 election the Lib Dems had a chance to become "the second party", or at least the party which could have settled a hung parliament. The way the media was dressing up the skeletons in Corbyn's closet pretty much tanked his chances, and I believe Jo Swinson was popular among younger voters?

But her nuclear and gender policies didn't do her any favours, and she just didn't take the opportunity to "run with it", so to speak.

I long for the day we go back to politics being dull, we don’t need characters, we need leaders, Keir is very good in that category

Yeah I do love Sir Kier as leader, he's practically turned PMQs into a bloodsport

I doubt BoJo would lead the Tories to another win now.
