Default Lying about your age, (Many have done it, for all kinds of reasons.)

It is something which many of us all are guilty for.

Sometimes it can be children wanting to buy Cigarettes or Alcohol and if they look older, they will say that they are 18

or,

You get to 40 or something and hate admitting that you are getting older and may wish to say that you are 30 instead, especially if you look younger.

Many pensioners do the same thing and if you dare ask them their age, they will say, "Never you mind!!!", then they may say, "How old do you think I am?"

Of course, you have to say 50 or something

Does anyone here have a story to tell, about lying about your age?

or

Is the truth everything. It is something which most people do lie about at some stage in their lives, it is just the way....

The older someone is the wiser they are. I can't understand why people in their forties+ lie about their age. They should be proud of the era they come from and of their maturity.

That's criminal Remy

I did that when I was 16 years old and I used to play fruit machines where 18's only were alowed, sometimes they believed me when I said I was 18, but some did'nt..

The one on Tottenham Court Rd in London's west end were a nuicence for throwing me out Anyway, I kept sneaking back.

Those were the days

I don't really lie anymore about that, but I may start doing when I hit 40, that is scary

I've tried to pretend to be 18 going into a pub. They still don't believe me even though I'm 18 in September.

Yeah ditto, bar the ''date with a girl'' ... did you seriously do that? She'd have found out eventually.

I don't think that law will bother underage drinkers that much.

From what that law reads, all the police can do is confiscate the drinks that they were served.

Worse case scenerio...

I went to college when I was 16 and joined the student union there and added two years onto my birth date. This gave me my bargaining tool to get into night clubs but I must have applied my make up with a trowel as I was never asked for the ID!!!

There was this bloke I went out with a month after my 19th birthday who was 2 months short of his 34th birthday. He said he was 27 because he thought if he said his real age he would not get a second date. He eventually told me but it took me forever to tell my mother who had only just gotten used to the fact he was 27!!! Anyway, 18 years and 4 months on, we are still together (just).

Why is everyone telling people how to break the law..... yes people drink underage but to tell minors about the ways is a little out of order.

Think about it...... if you were a parent and you found out that your child had found out how to gain access to drink from this forum would you be happy????

I wouldnt

I understand how the comments in this thread may offend some people, but the same can be said about many debates on any forum.

Remember the thread about "Underage Drinking?"

It is obvious that many children learn about things from watching soap opera's like Eastenders, Corrie, etc... That is probably the worse influence of all. As they cover so many subjects.

Look at "Stacey Slater" in Eastenders.. She's been very sneaky and I am not just talking about alcohol

Anyway, this is about, Lying about your age, and that can cover many different things, some of which has been described above...

I wouldn't worry about one person getting offended within a thread, cepb

If a landlord or landlady of a pub chooses to serve a person under the age of 18 alcoholic drinks, that is up to them and they are the only ones who can get in trouble.

It is true that alcoholic drinks which have been served by a landlord or landlady or even their staff, can be confiscated from persons drinking within a pub, if police/CID are there in the pub. Also, the underaged drinker or drinkers can be asked to leave the pub, for that very same reason.

But this is highly unlikely and I say that from personal experience of knowing, many who do drink and are underage, get away with it.

Many doormen of night-clubs let many young and attractive girls into a night-club, just because they fancy them. Even though, they have an idea that they are underage.

Once they are in there, they will get served without question, as, the rules are, "No person's under the age of 18 is allowed in their night-club"

So, if they have been allowed in, then, they won't be questioned at the bar, when drinks are sold to them.
