Im not sure I would get offered it, as I am in my early 20's so I doubt it but then again my job is basically working directly with the vulnerable so who knows.

I wouldn't want to be first in line but if it means I can help others I'd do it.

it probably is a bit Niamh, but we have to go forward at some point, I will be cautious as well , but better than living like we all are now I think.

People have the right to be a little cautious. They said thalidomide was safe to take in early pregnancy and we all know how that turned out.

Its a worry and I do think people will be nervous. I spoke to my dad about it and he said he will have it as it would stop him having to shield every time there is an uptick and in his words "if there's long term side effects, I'll be either dead or nearly dead by then anyway"

I think things like foreign travel may require you to be inoculated before you go etc so a lot of people who say they won't get it may change their minds if their annual holidays are dependent on it

Completely agree.

People will still blame the government if people refuse to take the vaccine in order to help the country (PS if people don’t take it it’s fine and it’s completely your decision, but also don’t expect the government to have to act on your decision.. I.e if people continue to die as they didn’t vaccine or end up on venticilators then tough luck, others shouldn’t live in poverty or suffer with mental health issues as a result of your decision imo)

It isn't about not trusting the Science at all LT, it's about there not really being enough time to see what kind of longer term effects a new vaccine could have

I do get that Annie but wasn't that for warding off morning sickness , and as tragic as it all was ,I think maybe Covid is more widespread so needs to be at the forefront of anything that could potentially save lots of people, hopefully the testing will be thorough before its wheeled out, I agree with the travel etc, they wont want to forgo their holiday.

I can understand reluctance with the vaccine in the terms of it supposedly only being effective on 90% of the population... but otherwise I don't see any room for scepticism. Has there ever even been a case of a vaccine being rushed out with adverse side effects? Certainly never on this scale, but even on a smaller one?

(And please don't unleash the anti-vaxxers, I'm open to real concerns but not going down the road of GOVERNMENT CHIPS, BLEACHING OUR DNA, EVERYONE GETS AUTISM hysteria)

I don't know, I would rather wait a year or two but that may not be possible, I'll just see what happens, people can barely plan a week in advance these days

I honestly don't remember a vaccine being rushed out like this before in my lifetime. There was the Swine Flu one and like I said a Doctor friend of my mother actually said he wasn't going to be giving it to his kids. Luckily that seemed to just die off and it never really became a necessity for everyone to have one.

***I am generally very Pro vaccine, I'm absolutely for a vaccine for this of course, I'm just a bit nervous about it because it was so fast coming out

If it's proven 100% safe, yes.

i don't think people being cautious of the vaccine is unreasonable, we all want to know that it won't cause any nasty side effects

My daughter just said that some of her pals are like "ooh i want to be sure its safe" but they are more than happy to sniff a line of Horse tranquilliser off a weatherspoons bog cistern on a Thursday night

brazil halted testing of the chinese vaccine today because of serious issues. If it was halted there it must have been really bad

So far the vaccine hasn't had any serious side effects.
So I think that's very promising.

Yes, I'd prefer to risk the side effects of a vaccine than to risk passing covid onto someone vulnerable.
