Default Covid tests required for travel to Spain from 23rd November

https://www.independent.co.uk/travel...-b1721275.html

The favourite overseas country for British holidaymakers is to demand evidence of a negative Covid test from every arrival from “high-risk” countries, including the UK.

Spain is the latest nation to introduce mandatory pre-departure testing for many visitors, starting on 23 November.

The Ministry of Health in Madrid has announced that evidence of a negative PCR in the 72 hours prior to departure will be compulsory for visitors from all countries designated high risk by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

Every major nation in Europe, with the exception of Finland and Norway, is currently classified as “red” or high risk.

Their infection rate is 600 per 100,000 far higher than the UK, and apparently imported infection are 0.8 so they need to look elsewhere for their high rate

Anyhow any who travels without a test will have to take one on arrival, pay for it and face a 6,000 euro fine

Yes

From 14 November, travellers to the Canary Islands will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test when checking-in to regulated tourist accommodation.

it's going to be mandatory to show proof of vaccination before the summer next year if you want to travel, thats the obvious next step in the process

Agree with this. I think a lot of people who have said they won't have the vaccine may have to rethink if they want to travel on holiday.

My friend flew to Lanzarote yesterday (essential travel) and she said there are gearing up for it and there are notices everywhere about it.

That's not all that unusual though, there are quite a few countries with at least "heavily recommended" vaccines required before travel and have been for decades.

Its such a weird time we live in, I think, where people have come to consider holidays abroad to be a "right" or even an "essential". I guess maybe because it's not something I generally ever did as a kid or now as a family... I went abroad twice throughout my whole childhood, and my own kids have been abroad once (and that was 6 years ago). Its just not something I've ever thought of as an annual requirement .

Like how about... Just don't go to Spain for a few years.
