Default TopShop empire Arcadia Group collapse into Admin.

Phillip Green
not able to save it.

[Sir Philip Green's retail empire is facing collapse
within days, putting 15,000 jobs at risk
and bringing the curtain down on the
high street career of one of Britain's most
controversial businessmen.
Sky News has learnt that Arcadia Group - which
owns TopShop, Burton and
Dorothy Perkins - is preparing to
appoint administrators from Deloitte
as soon as next week.

One retail industry figure said Arcadia's collapse
had become inevitable after talks with a number
of lenders about an emergency £30m loan
ended without success.

It's a shame for the people who'll lose their jobs, but I'm not gonna shed any tears for a big fat company going down...

How did he manage this? In 20yrs the burton group has gone from high street royalty to nothing. He ran the place into the floor.

Can only speak for topshop really but it went from being one of my go to clothes shops when I was about 16 and then the quality just dropped and the prices stayed high. I can't say I've been in there or even looked at their site for about 3 years

True, I worked both in the warehouse and in stores in the early 90s and you were proud to do so, it's so sad for me to see the decline.

i feel really sorry for the staff. The writing has been on the wall for at least 10 years, covid just finished it off. Green is a deeply unpleasant person.

...this is so sad, such an end of an era...Arcadia Group and specifically Topman has such a huge personal family meaning and significance for me and was the first of its kind to bring high street fashion to males in a way that had previously been very female focused...and as Kizzy said, it was built with such pride in its achievement and success and worked with some amazing world fashion designer names...sadly, none of that pride ever transferred to Philip Green and over time, the group has gone from strength to weakness......very, very sad...
