Boxing Day 19:45 PM

What’s better than a good dose of Christmas craft to get into the spirit of things? Seeing four celebrities struggle to sew of course!

Joe Lycett guides us through Sara Pascoe’s confusion over left and right, Dr Ranj Singh’s inability to plan ahead or pin, Denise Van Outen’s love for mad fabric and Shirley Ballas’s disregard for the status quo (especially when it comes to the transformation challenge). The challenges include making Christmas pyjama bottoms, creating fancy dress outfits for four dogs and designing a Christmas dress, but it’s not just sewing (or lack of) that we’re tuning in for. We’re also treated to Christmas skits, songs, dance routines and even a barbershop ensemble with the aforementioned costumed dogs.

Judges Patrick Grant of Savile Row and Esme Young of Central Saint Martins are on top form as they tear apart some of the celeb’s efforts. But instead of being total Scrooges, they actually help salvage the celebs' made-to-measure garments. In the festive spirit, Patrick helps Ranj adapt his dress when he discovers it won’t fit his model, and Esme jumps on Shirley’s machine when she realises her dress won’t fasten together unless she gets help.
New Years Eve 20:00 PM

The Christmas crackers have been pulled, the sherry drained, the leftover turkey picked clean. The new year is fast approaching. While best-laid plans for the festivities might be up in the air for most of us, four selfless celebrities have volunteered to enter the lions’ den of competitive sewing, all for our entertainment.

Joe Lycett presides as Lesley Joseph attempts to master sewing jargon with the help of judge Patrick Grant. The Vivienne’s Christmas baubles come unstuck, Sabrina Grant wrestles with the waistband of a small girl's party skirt, and Sally Phillips recounts her worst ever New Year - involving a hangover, a wafer-thin mattress and a lurcher named Yuri - through the medium of dress-making.

As ever, no wonky seam or errant thread escapes the eagle-eyed attention of judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young, although they are slightly more charitable than usual, even going so far as to help their novice charges. We’ll put that down to Christmas spirit!
