Again I'm gonna shake my list up a little bit to my norm.

1. Connor (Detroit: Become Human)
2. Maria (Silent Hill 2)
3. Ryuji Sakamoto (Persona 5) This Game has a lot of strong characters imo.
4. Goro Akechi (Persona 5)
5. Takuru Miyashiro (Chaos;Child)

Niko Bellic - A protagonist that has quite a lot of depth to his character even though from events that happened in the past it has made him quite cold. I could go on for ages as to why he my favourite and just his quotes alone in the game are also some of my favourites:

”When I was in the army... we were going on a mission... to ambush a squad who had killed a lot of innocent people. They were our enemies... but we never did it. There were fifteen of us. All boys from the village. But one of us betrayed the group. It was a setup... for money! Twelve people died, three escaped. I know the traitor was not me... So for ten years I've been searching for the other two. One of them lives here”.

Dwayne Forge - Another GTA 4 one but Dwayne I like because he has some similarities to Niko. He’s kinda stuck in the past and has a very pessimistic view on life like Niko which is a shame because he seems like someone who was a good person but made the wrong decisions in life. When you ‘hang out’ with Dwayne he mentions stories about how his father was abusive, that Dwayne always wanted to be a police officer but around that time they didn't accept him because he was black, how he became a drug dealer because it was all he was good at. A really interesting character that is a great contrast to the protagonist.

4. Lee (The Walking Dead)
5. Morrigan (Dragon Age I/II)
6. Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)
7. Shepard (Mass Effect)
8. Dorian (Dragon Age Inquisition)
9. Ethan (Heavy Rain)
10. Sam (Until Dawn)

Both Gerald and Drake have so much character, and have such a dry cocky sense of humour. They’re both so likeable yet badass. Chloe is very similar as well actually a true female version. Those are probably my top 3.

OH I forgot some because I was thinking just protagonists!

Joseph Seed, Far Cry 5 - IF you also play through New Dawn, his whole character arc is ****ing brilliant tbh.

Up there with my other antagonist pick - Sephiroth. Iconic.

I'd give a nod to Faith Seed too. Tragic character, poor Faith.

I actually agree with you on the other thread though - Haru was an odd addition. There was nothing TERRIBLE about her but she was so bland/pointless compared to all of the others. I don't think I used her at all in my party whereas everyone else was swapped in and out quite regularly.

You've said everything that I found to be negative about Haru.

I actually didn't hate her character either, I just didn't really get anything from the character either.

Honestly, I can't think of any of the top of my head but on the subject of FF villains, I don't think any can come close to Emet-Selch in FFXIV. Such a perfect villain.
