Deaths are coming down now but cases seem to have stalled around the 10k- 12k mark and if we need to get them below 1k its going to be ages before they release us from lockdown

I reckon at this point the drops will slow, they'll still drop over time, but not at the rate we have been seeing

Assuming the vaccine starts to become effective after about 3 weeks and then people who are ill tend to be in hospital 2 weeks after catching it, it would take about 5 weeks to see a reduction in hospitalisation after vaccination. So, the full effect of vaccination on hospitalisations will kick in in about 5 weeks time

You would think the death rate would steadily fall tbh, as we are both in lockdown..and also vaccinations are ongoing.

Am sure SAGE said back in lockdown 1 that it took 3 weeks to see the impact each measure had taken. Thinking of that, when the lockdown was put back on, did we see a fall in deaths and such? Cannot remember..

So from that, I would be expecting many less deaths, assuming lockdown and vaccine(though mainly vaccine, given its meant to stop severe illness) are working

We're seeing the effects of the lockdown.
It's too soon to see the vaccination kicking in.
If give it another month.

Those are still dreadfully worrying stats given we are virtually all in lockdown

According to an eminent virologist ( last week ) who claimed that the generally accepted minimum number of new infections should be under a 100 before restrictions are lifted

...there was a list published the other day of areas that cases had come down by around 50% or more than 50%, I can’t recall which...and I don’t know how accurate etc...but my area was stated as a decrease of 51%...it wasn’t completely clear but I think that was from last October...
