good, back on topic

umm you can be positive about hospitalisations, ICU numbers decreasing fair enough

but i'm only pointing out the new cases numbers also remain important

we in NL got well over 7k now, yes also thx to schools probably, and also i blame it on anti-lockdown protests some of those who also do not wear face masks

but no reason for panic i think if we just speed up vaccinations now

unclear. Case numbers are now vastly lower than they were in early January and

continue to drift further down. As the weather warms up and as the effects of ever-more

But with around 60 per cent of us now having some protection, via vaccination or past

current wave on the Continent produce some unexpected vaccine escape variant,

things may change. But as things stand in the UK, cases are still contracting and there

is as yet nothing in the data to suggest they will not continue to do so.

Has the rate gone up 10% ??

As if it was going DOWN rather quickly but now it’s UP 10% doesn’t that suggest a far higher increase rate than just 10% ?

Default Coronavirus Outbreak

What’s the deal with over 70’s ( so far ) being given a third Covid 19 jab in September- to boost their immunity !?!?

After just 6 or 7 months they need boosting ?

Where does that leave the rest of us under 70s ??

I thought the first jab gave around 70%+ and more or less ensure you won’t die or need ventilation then the second jab pushed up the % to 85 or 90% - until next year ??

I’m confused ..

Edit

Sky News discussing this now ..

The suggestion is that the government are expecting/preparing for a THIRD wave in September ..

France currently getting 42,000 new cases per day , Germany 22,000 .

A further booster shot has been talked about pretty much since they first started vaccination, expect it will be rolls out further once the over 70s are done?

so what Germany does well, the public know better they don't need a lockdown anymore

so the surge in new cases is their karma, for wanting more irrelevant freedom

That was muted as a jab that will have been modified to combat any new strains though ...

Just saying they will be getting a third booster jab kinda sounds like the first two are running out of effectiveness after just 6 or 7 months ..

Think it was always going to be tweaked to encompass new variants

they dont know how long the vaccine will be effective for, how could they?

They are preparing for the eventuality that a booster is needed, i can't believe you are seriously moaning about that

I understood it that it will also be tweaked slightly to ensure it catches any variants in the virus plus they are readying themselves for winter. It may then become annual like the flu jab. Nothing to worry about or even that unusual with vaccines.

there is no actual evidence yet that the vaccines don't work against the latest strains, only a "they might not be as effective", which doesnt really mean anything. If the vaccine still protects against serious illness, everything will be fine.

I think they are considering all eventualities, which i am very happy about

It’s hardly moaning ... I was more querying the terminology if anything - if they’d said they would be getting a modified jab to counteract the new wave of strains I wouldn’t have commented..

Just saying they’re gonna start giving a THIRD jab kinda unsettled me as it suggests the two won’t be enough

Well that’s a more acceptable explanation
