i'm also saying we should be cautious too, but after the vaccination program we have had, we cant remain locked down. We should maintain social distancing until the infection rate is right down though

https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2021/0...oad-to-normal/

Netherlands very much back on the road to normal, the vaccine target is mid July everyone above 18 (or at least those who want the vaccine)

''According to health ministry estimates, nine million doses of vaccine have now been given and 14 million people are eligible.''

Football

''However, the social distancing rules and ban on large groups will remain in force in June, and that will impact on the way the European football championships are experienced, prime minister Mark Rutte said.''

For example, cafes will not be able to rent in big screens to watch the game and there will be no outdoor screenings either, Rutte said. ‘It is good news that we can do what we can, so let us be sensible [about the football],’ Rutte said.

The changes the government is introducing from June 5 – step three in the plan to open up the economy again – involves allowing museums and cinemas to open to a limited number of visitors and allowing cafes and restaurants to serve guests up to 10pm, indoors as well as outside.

Gyms

Sports schools and gyms can also offer lessons indoors again, as long as the 1.5 metre rule is observed. Team sports can also resume, although only the under 18s will be able to take part in competitions.

‘Step three is really an end to the lockdown’ Rutte said. ‘It is a great thing to be able to leave it behind.’

However, people who are fully vaccinated should still keep to the social distancing rules and wear a face mask in shops and indoor spaces, De Jonge said.

And home working is still the order of the day, Rutte said. ‘It is good news this evening, but we are not yet there.’

Holidays

The European Union’s coronavirus certificate will come into effect on July 1, De Jonge said. Given that not every adult in the Netherlands will have been vaccinated by that date, it is ‘only logical that we share the costs’ he said, referring to calls for free PCR tests for people who plan to go abroad on holiday.

Sadly some people will be sensible some will not - some people haven’t made any changes all throughout this nightmare ... at least if there’s a lock down in place and fines to pay ( in theory) more will not be acting as there’s nothing to worry about .

that will quickly change if the youngsters start dropping like has happened in india. Young people are dying there from it, and that can't be explained by social circumstances because young people have largely been unaffected by covid all around the world until the indian variant hit

Possibly.. as I’ve mentioned previously we have two 16 years old girls from the same high school in our town — apparently very poorly in hospital as we speak ..

It’s certainly made zero difference to the behaviour of our pupils this last week ..

Netherlands: RIVM's decision to vaccinate children between 12 and 18 is a strategic one for upcoming winter, which will make it easier to keep covid under control

if also all children from age of 12 receive at least one dose, their estimation of the R-number will be at 0.85

if only all adults would be vaccinated, then the R number would be just below 1

so this is the better of the two scenario's, to lift pressure of our doctors, care workers

how higher the percentage of vaccination, the lower the R number

COVID-19 'has NO credible natural ancestor' and WAS created by Chinese
scientists who then tried to cover their tracks with 'retro-engineering' to make it
seem like it naturally arose from bats, explosive new study claims

In a new 22-page scientific paper, exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com,
Norwegian scientist Dr. Birger Sřrensen (top right) and British Professor
Angus Dalgleish (bottom right) concluded 'SARS-Coronavirus-2 has no
credible natural ancestor' and that it is 'beyond reasonable doubt' that the
virus was created through 'laboratory manipulation.'
The study, due to be
published in the scientific journal Quarterly Review of Biophysics Discovery,
is set to make waves among the scientific community, as the majority of
experts have until recently staunchly denied the origins of COVID-19 were
anything other than a natural infection leaping from animals to humans.
While analyzing COVID-19 samples last year in an attempt to create a
vaccine, Dalgleish and Sřrensen claim they discovered 'unique fingerprints' in
the virus that they say could only have arisen from manipulation in a
laboratory. They said they tried to publish their findings but were rejected by
major scientific journals which were at the time resolute that the virus
jumped naturally from bats or other animals to humans.

Intriguing

If proven to be correct then maybe they should put the creator to task to come up with an answer or face the consequences ..

Over in Wuhan, something happened which has now led to 3.5 million deaths
(and about 170 million cases) across the world. The scientists most closely
involved have disappeared, as has anyone who spoke up to denounce what
happened, as has physical and documentary evidence of what was going on
in the lab. If there was ever a Dominic Cummings-type person within the
Chinese communist regime, he has not been allowed to appear for seven
hours before a televised committee of the National People’s Congress to tell
what he sees as the truth that Comrade Xi Jinping is unfit to be president,
has a “crackers” girlfriend and a lying health minister and has covered up the
cause of the greatest avoidable public health disaster of all time. In the
vanishingly unlikely event that such a person ever existed, we can be
confident he is now dead.

Cases are going up, but hospitalisations and deaths are still low.
I think we're good.
