Netherlands: as of June 30th possible for one day events, visitors must have either a proof of vaccination, or negative pcr test evidence

once allowed, no more 1.5 metre distancing

parliament has decided to relax these measures because of the success of the FieldLab test events which were held the last couple months

the relaxing of measures doesn't count for Lowlands Festival which is over multiple days, or Fairs which are also over more than 3 to 4 days usually

the parliament will decide next week on theatre, pop concerts if also indoors the measures can be relaxed

On the face of it I guess those % aren’t too scary BUT these are only over a 7 day period.. week on week .

It won’t take too long to get to rather more worrying levels ??

Netherlands:

we have labelled UK as high risk zone, code orange, travellers whom return from UK must go in quarantaine for the full 10 days, anyone breaking this rule will get a fine up to 339 euro

besides UK, also Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh as high risk zones

all of these got code orange, because of the extremely contagious Delta or Indian corona variant

truck drivers don't have to be in quarantaine travelling from and to UK, but different rules for them, not to go making unnecessary contacts in UK, and distancing and wearing face masks all the time

and yet they didn't close the borders with India when the virus was raging

I think its easy to forget where we were at the end of December

cases going up massively every day, we need to put things in perspective

And to be fair even looking at those numbers and extrapolating them with the current cases/deaths numbers... it does CURRENTLY look like there's a large drop in the case fatality ratio.

Hard to say 100% whether that's because of vaccinating massively reducing incidence of severe illness, cases being skewed into younger and less at risk demographics, or simply more asymptomatic cases being discovered because of surge testing in hotspot areas.

Prolly a combination of all 3.

[edit to add]

Any of the three is good news though. Obviously reason #1 would be the most encouraging.

i've gone back and forward on the current situation quite a lot and while i desperately want life back to normal, this delta variant is quite concerning. To be honest, if the vulnerable hadn't been vaccinated we would be completely ****ed at this point.

They reckon without relaxing restrictions further, we will be back at 50k daily infections in a couple of weeks. Now we can say vaccination has broken the link between infection and death, but it hasn't broken it completely, so, what we will have is double vaccinated people thinking they are perfectly safe and then oops, a proportion of them will end up dying. The big unknown is what that proportion will be. We are just not out of the woods yet as much as we all wish it were so

Yeah that’s more or less my take on things..

I see all these fabulously high numbers of vaccinated people but it still leaves millions and millions vulnerable ..

It was daft to link it to a date, they should have linked it to a vax number. Like 75% double-dosed or something.

…I can’t understand the sense of giving another potential date of 19th July….just say there will be a delay and it’ll be monitored closely and reviewed etc….it’s not looking as good as it did but we’ll hope for mid July doesn’t make sense at all…
