All the Current Covid updates
would be done today with that former one.

Science advisers have updated data
for him.

It was 3:30PM
then BBC said it will be 5:30PM

I will update if the time changes

[The ministerial statement about coronavirus
restrictions is expected in the
House of Commons at about 17:30 BST.

Mr Javid said: "I want to see the restrictions lifted
and life going back to normal as quickly as possible.
That is my absolute priority.
I want to see those restrictions lifted as soon as we can.]

Moscow has registered 7,246 new cases and a record number of 124 daily coronavirus deaths.

Sobyanin notes the Delta variant is a serious threat to the capital: "Once again, we are dealing with a new and more contagious strain, a very deadly one. I ask everyone to take care of themselves and get vaccinated at the first opportunity."

In a recent interview with state Rossiya 1 TV, the mayor says because of the Delta strain, the capital is "experiencing the pandemic anew, and the epidemic is in fact raging in Moscow".

Those case fatality ratio stats bear no resemblance to our own - I'd suggest that Russia has a LOT more mild daily cases than are being confirmed by test. Like... 10x more.

There is even better news with deaths. Latest estimates show fewer than one in 1,000 infections is leading to a death. At the peak of the winter wave it was one in 60.

This has dramatically altered what can be considered a proportionate response to the virus - and is why a further loosening of restrictions remains on the cards.

I think a true fatality rate of around 0.7 - 0.8% was estimated early on and the stats held pretty strong on that throughout the pandemic up until vaccination (not to be confused with case fatality rate, which is deaths per IDENTIFIED case, not deaths per estimated true number of cases). If it's true that this is now at less than 0.1% then vaccination has been a massive success.
