She terminated the interview, it's a great pity this heartless, rotten politician hasn't had terminated her being a Minister, with her heartless and cruel attitudes to the vulnerable, sick and disabled too.

Absolutely horrible individual.

My View :
Something that could bugger every Vaccine Up,

If the UK Variant, South African Variant, Brazil Variant.
Can not be stopped by any current Vaccine.
All Efforts not good enough.

I'm not even arguing for premature re-opening; it does make sense to take as many precautions as possible, but I also think there's a risk in OVER stating the effect of schools, as it stops people looking elsewhere for the real causes of cases shooting up.

Didn’t the Scottish schools have a staggered return though .. I maybe wrong on that I seem to recall them doing something like that .. anyways that would have an impact on the spread ..

The thing is everyone knows that children spread disease / illness / infections so it’s simply ridiculous to say ( as they did initially) that children weren’t spreading the virus .

As I said in my recent post .. they are currently being crammed into classrooms along with maybe 25 other pupils plus two or three staff members - nobody wears masks in classes only in corridors-they then mix with their mates at break , lunchtime AND mix with other friends in the evenings .

Laura Kuenssberg of the BBC asks: How and when
will lockdown be lifted, and if you can't tell us,
if not, why not?

[Matt Hancock stressed
it is “very important to understand where we are right now”.
He said there are 37,000 people in hospital with
COVID across the UK – almost twice as many
as during the first peak.
There are also more people on ventilators than ever, he said.
He said that “pressure on the NHS remains huge”
and we “have to get the case rate down”
before lockdown is lifted.

Mr Hancock said he “understands the yearning
of people wanting to get out of this”,
but we have to look at the death rates,
hospitalisations, variants,
and the success of vaccines, and decide when it's safe.

So in short, he can't tell us when lockdown will be lifted.]

[ITV's Tom Clarke asks how many cases there have
been of the South African and Brazilian variants in the UK.

He also asks what evidence there
is from the vaccine already rolled out
that it is effective against the Kent variant]

[The health secretary does not give a definitive
answer for the number of cases of these variants

found in the UK, saying he already set this out yesterday.
But he does say they are "very, very small numbers".]

However, in a scenario where the vaccinations for whatever reason don't fully bring an end to the lockdown situation by the end of the summer, schools need to reopen next August/September and they need to stay open. Whether than means altering breaks for fewer, longer breaks (to act as "circuit breakers") or whatever. Schools can't stay closed for years on end, it simply isn't feasible.

Well next August there may not be many school staff left anyways so it won’t be an issue .. of the staff that are not off sick , or working from home as they’re vulnerable..... I know many , many teachers and teaching assistants who are ready to quit .. probably before Easter as well ..so god knows how many will stick around for the long term .. probably just the ones at the top - the heads , deputy heads , SLTs and the HLTAs who are not on the front line with the kids .

We had two young teaching assistants who didn’t even come back after Christmas- they just left without giving notice .

We are currently under staffed , over worked , being given in some cases completely new roles plus we are all risking our lives and our immediate families lives .

It’s all so disheartening...

the media just piss me off, it's obvious that we cant open up again until the numbers in hospital are down. They are just stirring it and actually encouraging people to ignore restrictions

Last sentence is spot on .

New more contagious, more transmissible, more dangerous variants amongst us yet we have six times more pupils in now than we had last year plus they are in classes of up to 28 when last year ( when it was safer) they were in classes of 5 or 6 !!!

It’s sheer madness

Qualified teachers are not going to quit a job with a 30k - 40k salary into an uncertain economy (where even replacing with full time minimum wage could be a challenge). It just won't happen in large numbers. There are only 3 possible scenarios for it;

1) They're only a few years off retirement anyway.

2) They have a high household income (a partner who can support them comfortably and securely until times are better).

3) they have a SKY HIGH level of self-belief

4)... They're extremely stupid.

I'm not saying that it's a good thing that people are "trapped" in jobs where they feel unsafe... However, it is a reality. There are no jobs to leave for, even fewer that are paid half as much, fewer still that don't carry similar levels of risk. Realistically, few could do it even if they wanted to, and still make ends meet.

We had three positive cases last week and they sent home each of the pupils plus the ones sitting either side of them .. . not too long ago when it wasn’t as dangerous or contagious... the whole class of pupils were sent home for 10 to 14 days and the room was deep cleaned .
