I’ll be the same when it’s my turn .. sadly I’m allergic to the whole range of penicillins

Hopefully that won’t be an issue with any of the vaccines...

This is why I want to do the vaccination at my GP.
So I can ask them about this.

There would be no point opening the pubs without alcohol surely..

Besides..it being the main reason people go to the pub, they would not be able to survive, paying wages and bills and stuff while not allowed to sell anything that makes them a profit! All the pubs I worked in..the markup and real money was in alcohol (though even there, they needed a steady stream most days..generally the only 'profit' was made on busy weekends, the few older men sitting there all day paid the bills/rent). Pop was pretty much just there for mixers..or the odd person who was driving/pregnant/not drinking. If it was every customer getting cokes and cordials..rather than a rarity, they would be bankrupt pretty soon. And thats assuming they have had enough cash to get thrugh the lockdown so far really. Quite sure a lot will be closed for good now. And those who can open, won't last long with a no alcohol rule..maybe they are actively trying to give wetherspoons and such the monoply for some reason..

Hopefully its just one of those stuid attention seeking headlines that are bollocks.

Sounds promising

Maybe it’s the future.. I’d be happy to see schools reopening fully WITHOUT teaching staff

I worked as a "chef" (ok it was mainly curries, macaroni cheese and various burgers) in a student pub when I was at Uni and can confirm that, yes, the food is basically sold "at cost" (covering the ingredients and staff), zero profit, and the main function was essentially to entice students in for delicious but relatively cheap food, knowing that they would then stay for at least 4 or 5 drinks.

...a father and son finally having contact with each other, such a sign of our times...but so lovely that his son was the one to administer the vaccine to his parent......

A poignant vaccination reunited a father and son when pharmacist Aneet Kapoor gave his 79-year-old father the COVID-19 vaccine...

when most people say they have an allergy to something, what they actually mean is they have an intolerance and they are very different beasts.

An intolerance might give you the squits or make you throw up. An allergy tends to be more serious like it would close up your windpipe, put you into shock or something very serious like that. Other examples of allergy would be something like hay fever where it makes your eyes stream and constantly sneeze.

If you have not experienced significant incidents like going into shock or difficulty breathing then you are probably good for getting the vaccine

Good luck. Maybe we can utilise some of the robotic advances the likes of Japan and such have made!

Oh god, now picturing a robot with a screen on with the teachers face, doing lessons remotely while the kids are actually in school...made me smile a bit for some reason, though its terrifying in another way!

Erm, people will hug even without booze given many have not seen civilisation for months now! And if the concern is people hugging, maybe pubs should be the last to open really. Seems a little silly, to say they can open but they are not allowed to make any profit, so those that DO open, are even more likely to close long term.

Not even sre how many will bother reopening..even if they are allowed to sell booze. As my husbands cousin owns a bar, and when they were told they could open again as usual, started getting dreys in as usual and, again, got left with a load of alcohol they couldn't sell when the random announcement came on about them closing again. Thats a fair few grand, each time. I doubt he will reopen this time for a long time..even if he 'can' given his loses already.

Mind he has a decent cash backup, but it seems wrong to expect him to use his savings, in order to allow others a bit of social life. He is already topping up furlough wages to 100%, as he feels bad, despite it not being his fault. So I guess that in itself proves he is 'well off enough' to open again.

[Boris Johnson planning NHS England overhaul,
leaked paper shows
Plans would put end to David Cameron policies seen
as step towards privatisation of the NHS]

[According to the draft white paper,
the government is planning to reduce the role
of the private sector in NHS England
and give the health secretary greater control.

NHS commissioners would not be required
to put contracts out to tender,
which can draw competition from
competing health groups.
Instead, a new policy would leave the NHS
and local authorities to run services and
encourage them to work together more effectively.

that sounds like good news, however, what looks good in a sound bite often doesn't translate well to the reality as brexit has shown
