Default Stuck in a Lift, (how would you cope?)

Many people suffer from Claustrophobia & the thought of being stuck in a lift is probably a nightmare, not even thinking about

But imagine a packed out lift, with about 10 people squashed in & the lift suddenly stops and there is nothing you can do, or anyone else either.

But as the hours pass by, a couple out of the trapped 10 members of the public want to go to the toilet and can't wait, so they relieve themselves inside the lift.

The air is getting smellier and the smell from the urine or other is reeking and there is nothing you could do, but wait.

I am stating a lengthy and horrible scenario, I know, but even if it wasn't as bad as I have described

1) Could you cope & what would you do in that situation?

2) Do you worry about entering lifts?

3) Does this cross your mind and the stairs look like a safer option?

It wasn't that bad. There was a lot of nervous laughing going on when we were waiting for the lift engineer, who took ages lol.

Getting stuck in a lift isn't fun ya' know

Especially in a tower-block, if you've gotta go, you gotta go

I very rarely go into a lift. When I do I always feel unsafe and hope to god it doesn't get stuck...

If I ever do get stuck I hope I at least have someone I know with me to keep me occupyed.

I went in one in NY that went tremendously fast. That was a bit worrying on the way down. Why can't we be stuck in a lift with someone really sexy and have rampant sex? That would be more interesting.

I've been stuck in a lift before. It was horrible though because it went pitch black and I was on my own... I knew it had happened before with some other people, but at least they weren't alone! I just kept pressing the alarm button. It's not put me off lifts though... I just prefer it and it makes more sense to me to go with someone else. And if it weren't for the lights going off too, it wouldn't have bothered me as much.

I was holiday abroad and the hotel lift kept breaking down and one night, about three of us got stuck in there and the power went too, but there was only 6 floors I think, but I was about 11 years old, so it was a bit scary.

I have no problems with lifts today, but I know a few mates who are a little scared and one in particular chickens out and uses the stairs.

I don't like walking up stairs.

That can wear you out

Lift engineers are never there when you want them

When the lift breaks down, that will be lunch time and he will be busy eating, typical.....

I do think about it when I go in lifts but it doesn't bother me as much into using the stairs. As long as you can contact someone then that's ok i suppose. I wouldn't like to get stuck in one on my own, maybe with someone niceee haha.

I'd die. I'd probably go mental and start getting very insecure. I also get like that when I'm in large crowds, I start to panic..

I'm highly Claustrophobic and I have been suck in a lift. I was about 12 and was in Peterborough shopping centre with my mum, sister and grandma (who was in a wheelchair) and the lift got stuck full of shoppers. I was only stuck for about 30 mins but I never want to experience that again.

What made it worse was that the lift was made of glass and a croud of people sat and watched.

I think it would be better if it was made of glass because you wouldn't feel so confined.

Hi Kirsty Welcome to the forum...

I see what you mean about the fun part. If you go in there with three other girl mates and suddenly the lift breaks down, you can all sit and chat and even worry together as a group.

So that makes it easier on you too.

I got stuck in a lift with a really fat woman when I was on holiday in greece.

It was'nt very nice, but I wasnt 'scared' because I knew that someone would rescue us. And in the end we did.

My sister, on the other hand, Avoids lifts at all costs and would rather walk 100's of stairs then step foot a lift, in fear it would break down.
