I'd rather the government pay them what they are due and not clap like a performing monkey while Boris acts like it's enough while cutting back the budgets.

What you on about? I'm on about the people who may begin to struggle being locked down and them seeing the clapping as a weekly release. It worked for me the last time and helped keep me sane enough to function normally as it made the weeks fly past as it was a constant..a bit like hump day feeling in a way for me..just without the weekend release. So the clapping is sort of like a 2nd hump day thing now if you work, one that replaces your weekend. |

I will not, not after last time when Boris made out that gratitude was better than a pay rise. I will not engage in a self indulgent gesture masquerading as gratitude which will be used as an excuse not to pay these people what they are owed.
The NHS staff do not give a **** about your pots and pans, they do not give a **** about your claps. It does nothing to fix their struggles. **** the clapping, get them a pay rise. |

I shall perch myself at my window and not clap, I shall just bask in the glory of my fellow hero's, and probably cry the first night as the noise filters in, the noise that makes you gain the strength to get up again in the morning and soldier on all through this for the benefit off others But the tears for others will stop as the noise grows. Cauae that's the noise of togetherness. |

So yeah I'm clapping..but this time im clapping for people who need it.. That's the beauty of the clapping...it dont have to be what the founder says it should be for. Be yourself and clap for the things you want to clap for, all I'm saying is clap...get up to the windows and ****ing let yourself go for ten minutes.. it's a great release. |

Quand il pleut, il pleut

...there was obviously some very strong feelings about clapping for the NHS and it became a very political thing, which wasn’t obviously the original spirit of it...also, we saw images of people on the pavements of Westminster Bridge clapping and not observing safe spacing...it was all meant to be in own homes and through open windows etc, I think it started in Italy, if I recall..
...obviously everyone will decide for themselves whether they’ll do this but it’s surely not really accurate to attach it to anything felt about the NHS specifically because it’s basically clapping for so many people who we consider to be present day heroes... carers , teachers, home-schooling parents, those who are shielding, our refuse collection, delivery people and etc, etc...if some feel that it gives a personal feel good and boost and it’s done within the safety of the home from an open window...then it shouldn’t be negatively attached to any political meanings...the issue I guess is the ‘if it’s done safely’ etc...and ‘safely’ being decided by the individual but not necessarily within safety rules ... |

The community aspect of the clapping is what encourages me to do it. The fact that all the neighbours are able to see each other smile and wave hello. It felt nice last time. That being said I still havent had a conversation with any of my neighbours and havent really seen them since the clapping stopped last time.
I think its just a farce! I dont see the point in it! We all appreciate the heroes! This time id basically be clapping for myself anyway as im working full time as a cleaner I would consider clapping if us "heroes" got the wages we deserve. But nope. Yet footballers get paid millions for kicking round a ball So yeah its a farce. I wont be partaking this time around

Remembering Kerry

I'm Happy to applaud the efforts of NHS staff, care staff and all carers.
However, I'm less comfortable doing so in the company of Government Ministers who choose to not fully reward for the intense above the call of duty service these carers do. It's a pity the whole agenda isn't about popping out your front door, some just paying lip service to the efforts of care staff, but about ensuring proper rewards and recognition of those extra efforts. By fair bonuses and far more as to better salaries too. |

What would be much better than clapping is if people actually abided by the rules and actually socially distanced, I hope no one who wears a mask on their chin steps out to clap

Why are you being rude?
So many people would suffer dramatically without entertainment if furloughed and nothing to do to entertain themselves... Also people with young kids rely on the tv for the kids to watch to get a break from them 24/7... I don’t understand your logic at all, at a time where people are stuck at home it can definitely be considered essential. The fact you don’t have a job and you are willing to berate others for sticking their neck out and putting themselves in danger to help others and protect their mental health during the time of the pandemic is pretty gross |

A toilet isn’t essential either really? We still need these services. Like Cherie Mentioned Adam was complaint about his WiFi at the beginning of lockdown, I bet he’d be the first to ring up the non essential WiFi company to sort it out rather than sit and do nothing for 3 months (he’s not working it’s not essential he has internet).
A working tv could be considered essential for domestic abuse victims, single parent household families that have young children, and people furloughed and it able to work and have literally nothing to do to stay at home. Also a working TV could prevent people from mixing households, and going out, because it’ll keep them indoors. I think parm deserves a bit of respect |
