I don't think the BAME communities are the only ones with reservations.
I've myself learned of a few who've had the vaccines and felt really awful for more than just days after it.

I think all should take this vaccine when it's offered.
However, it is everyone's own choice.

I'm taking my own Mum today for hers, she is very suspicious of it.
In fact I know had she been on her own, she would not be going to have it at this time.

I think a lot of people will feel the same.
Not just the BAME communities.
Also like my own Mum, I would think there's many who go to get it.
Really anxious and doing so reluctantly.

I get from my Mum for instance, 'well it changes little except maybe you don't get too Ill hopefully.
You can still with the vaccine get it, not know you have it and still pass it to others if you do have it'.

For me, the not getting too ill part is very important but also that it will hopefully ensure far less deaths to it too.

However, there's deep anxiety and even fear among people, the BAME communities and in others too.

There's a trust issue too, in are we told everything.

If this was the very start of the vaccinations, I may even myself share the fears my Mum has and the reluctance to have the vaccine.
After something like 11 million vaccinated I'd expect more confidence in the vaccine to be forthcoming.

The other issue that has clouded things and I'm not sure we have had the fullest reassurances to this.
The now up to 12 week gap when it was insisted it had to be only 3 in only January too.
It is only the 6th February now.

Plus I've come across worries now at the mention of a different covid vaccine from the first brand of it possibly for the second one.
These are things, people have to know have been properly trialled and tested.

So I understand the still anxieties and lack of trust in what we're told.
Leaving a reluctance to accept the vaccine.

Myself, I'd still urge everyone of any communities to get the vaccine however.

...yeah, I do understand concerns as well, Joey and hopefully they will become less and less as we actually see those changes of less restrictions over time...?..but atm, there is obviously going to be some scepticism and maybe a higher fear for some of something being injected into their body, that’s the virus itself ...thinking of you and your mum today, a great birthday gift, eh......

I hope so Ammi.
Watching my Mum this morning just looking at the weather, saying is it not too cold?.
My response, we're in my car Mum, no worries on the cold.

What if it's packed?,
Well we're not to go in until 5 mins before our time, so we sit in the car til then.

I have to be ready with all answers

I know she's anxious but it will be worth it once it's done and I'm expecting her then saying.
Is that it, it's done!
I'll be relieved when it is myself as Mum really doesn't want to go.

Thank you Ammi.

...apparently I heard that the vaccine loves the cold weather so it’s skipping about atm, very excitedly...but hawwww, obviously she’s looking for reassurance, I mean it is a huge thing and a very significant moment in her life...but they sound like just smaller things and definitely no big fears there, I would say...I reckon that’s because she’s had you calming her every step, Joey...and you’ll deliver her quite safely and then she can properly exhale...big hug to you both.....

I think it steams down to a lack of education. We need to fund schools better in deprived areas

If you’re not willing to take the vaccine you have no leg to stand on if you’re blaming the government. The vaccine rollout is the ONLY way out, otherwise cases will remain high if all under 40s don’t take it..

If you’re not blaming the government then that’s fine, you’re aware you’re being a bit selfish(not liking needles not wanting to bother for potentially saving others), but people blaming the government and not willing to take definitely lack self awareness..

we are never going to have sufficient numbers of the world population vaccinated to achieve herd immunity, it just wont happen. Maybe in 10 or 20 years it might be possible, but unless you are going to close borders permanently, immunity levels within a particular country mean squat. It's really not helpful to try and guilt people into getting vaccinated. They need to do it because they want to, and over time, that may well happen if they want to visit other countries. In my life time I clearly remember having to be vaccinated for whatever before travelling abroad. It was a mandatory requirement if you wished to travel, and its likely the same will happen with covid

I do believe we will get to a point where a lot of countries will want proof of vaccine status and if you don't have it, you won't gain access to that country. It remains to be seen if that is the case but I think some people strongly against the vaccine may change their minds if it starts to affect their freedoms.

Yeah i think that will happen too. Most countries atm want proof of a negative corona test so vaccine proof will happen.

Needing the vaccine to go abroad is fine by me really. There are a few injections we are meant to get for different countries, and I don't really see this as much different at all.

I guess the main issue I see with that is that it might end up being flu jab sitation were it needs renewed regularly. I have a feeling the costs involved with vaccinating people who are not high risk might put a stopper in that. Cost V benefit. LIke how the flu jab is only offered to certain groups now, despite flu being a dreadful illness (not a cold 'flu', but real flu). IT would be great if that vaccine could be offered to all, to stop people getting ill, however, it would be a bit of a waste of money overall, and it makes sense to focus on those who can get very very ill from it.

What I see people kicking off about, is the implication they cannot go to the supermarket without proof of vaccination. Which seems a silly thing to get upset over really as I really cannot see that that would ever be 'a thing'. Even moreso when you look at..well how well requiring masks is going! I don't think there will ever be a situation in this country where people wih various illnesses/allergies/etc HAVE to wear something to prove they do not need a medical procedure, and its a dagerous road to go down really if that did happen. But of course, if you do not force people to tell the world about their disability, it makes it easier for those who simply do not want to follw the system, to abuse.

Well, I think all should get it when offered.

I've just got home with my Mum after her getting the vaccine.

Oh yeah,... she wonders what the fuss was about..
I said, oh yeah really Mother.

It was excellent and went like clockwork.

Great news Joey. I always find worrying about medical procedures is far worse than the actual thing usually.

You will both hopefully have a bit more peace of mind I was massively relieved once my Dad had his

Glad to hear it joey.

Things almost never turn out as badly as you think they will in your head. Panic stations, stressing out and that, but once its done, you wonder why you were worried to start with!

...our heads and head monsters etc....they always leap right over those bridges and keep going to the worst case scenarios having happened, when it rarely ever does../they’re far more scary than most realities ever could be...

...it is though a huge thing, we also have to acknowledge as well and anyone’s reluctance/fears/anxieties/uncertainties etc are all very genuine and have to have much respect as well...at least with the time of the rollout completing, it give time to gather thought together etc...

Thank you all for your supportive comments.

Indeed a relief on 2 points.
Getting it done and the relief knowing it is, plus now too, the apprehension of the follow up vaccine gone too.

Indeed Parmnion, what a day, I did have the thought I may not win this one but did.

I do really hope all the BAME communities do take up the vaccine.
It is important in my view now that we all do.
