![]() Lidl and Aldi have topped a Which? investigation to find out the UK's supermarket, with a total average basket price of £18.45 each. On average, shoppers last month would have paid £18.45 at both Aldi and Lidl for 19 essential grocery products. Included in the shopping list was food items like semi-skimmed milk, free-range eggs and Hovis wholemeal bread. In third place, just £1.58 more expensive than the discounters was Asda, where customers would have paid £20.03. Tesco came fourth, with their basket coming in at £21.77 while Sainsbury’s followed with essentials costing £22.10. The baskets from each of the supermarkets consisted of a combination of own-label and branded products.
