Default Coronation Street to pause filming for two weeks, for more COVID rewrites

Coronation Street will pause filming from next Monday, 25 January for two weeks to undertake some rewriting of stories and scripts as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

We will also be taking the opportunity to review all health and safety requirements to ensure we continue to provide a safe working environment for the cast, crew and production team.

This pause in filming won't affect our ability to deliver six episodes of Coronation Street each week.

I think its a good thing...for the safety of rhe cast and crew but will also be good if it were a little more true to life...shutting the pub...stop going in and out of each other's houses etc.

I think the soaps have been pretty poor in depicting what is actually going on with the virus, I know they have been filmed in advance but apart from wearing masks which they take off at every opportunity there is little nod to anything else...off shopping..booking into spas, off to restaurants... most of this is Emmerdale tbf but its kinda ridiculous

many were happy with less episodes a week so I dont know whey they feel they have to continue to deliver such a high number of eps every week

Honestly I enjoyed Corrie when it was 3 episodes a week last year, as soon as it went back to 6, it was too much to keep up with

same I feel its a bit of a chore to keep up with it, sometimes I don't bother with the second episode if there is two on especially if there is another programme in between

How comes The Rovers is allowed to be open during lockdown?

And nobody is sticking to social distancing rules in Weatherfield.

But..being true to life would be 90% of the show being total hermits, ordering shopping online, maybe raging when the delivery came a day late, curtain twitching and reporting the neighbour for speaking at the fence for 5 minutes longer than necessary or for utilizing their allowed support bubble. Much day drinking as theres **** all else to do. War in the street as you dare let your children play in the garden and speak to next doors children. TV repairman there 3x a week the day after Boris conferences.. as various objects thrown at screens. Young people washing their shopping before allowing it into the house whilst the 90 year old next door is pissed dancing in the garden in her underwear laughing at them and calling then fannies, and so on.

Edit.
Mind, that doesnt sound too bad now I went into it

They film so far ahead they can't keep up to date with which lockdown we're in and when it's lifted.

Actually, can you not get to be a writer for Corrie.
Because all that you've said there, sounds more entertaining to look in on, than the dire tripe of storylines there's been in recent months on Corrie.
