it means nothing if they just convict her for something else. I'm guessing they want something from the UK and she is the bargaining chip

I really feel for this family...I really hope she comes home. When she does eventually come home you would surely never want to go back...but her parents live there

[Tulip Siddiq, the Labour MP for the Hampstead and Kilburn
constituency in London where
Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe's family live,
told the BBC she had not yet had her
British passport returned to her.

"But she does have to go back to court and
we don't know what awaits her there," she said.

"Nazanin is quite worried because there was talk
of another case being put against her
which may of course mean another sentence,
and we don't know how long for."
However Ms Siddiq said
the removal of her ankle tag meant she could visit
her elderly grandmother "which is the thing she
mentions every time I speak to her".

"So on one hand they are celebrating that she has
some elements of freedom in terms of not having
the tracker anymore, but we just don't know what's
going to happen in the court case," she added.

"I know her daughter has been counting down
the days on her calendar at
home for her mother to return."]

True, if the UK does commit to protecting her and she goes to an embassy, likely the best they could do is keep her there at the embassy until a time when/if they go through the court proceedings in her absence and declare she's free to leave the country... which they might never do, she could basically end up trapped at the embassy for a long time. Which would be better than an Iranian jail cell obviously, but she understandably wants to come home.

the best the UK could do is provide her with diplomatic immunity before the next "trial"

She's a pawn in a political game. But hey, Islamic nations can be trusted, right? Not corrupt like the West. Right?

Why they so hell bent on her?
Why not pick on someone else?
There must be more to the story than the idea that Iran just want a decades old debt settling.

The Prime Minister
has phoned the Iranian Leader
demanding she be released.
But its the Revolutionary Guards
that have control of her.

But in April
a Court hears why Iran should get paid
the cash back for Tanks order 1976-79.
The order never got there,
due to 1979 revolution.

So it could be a delay for her release.

They'll keep finding trumped up charges to keep her jailed, the government needs to intervene at this point, but they won't. Too busy funnelling government funds to their friends....

abhorrent regimes are abhorrent ... i'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this. People visit country's like this at their own risk because no outside influence will change their behaviour, they just don't care

What's islam got to do with anything except an innate bias on your part? There's plenty of countries that are not majorly islamic that engage in ****ed up behaviour. China, Myanmar, Russia, Israel just to name a few off the top of my head.

Iran's government would still be doing this even if Islam wasn't a major religion in the country.

Took you two months to reply to my post. You could have written it down on a piece of paper and walked it round to my house.

We're not talking about other countries engaging in this " ****ed up behaviour". We're talking about Iran. There's a difference between genuine comparisons and irritated whataboutery.

Islamaphobia doesn't have a sell by date, Livia.

No, we're talking about you reducing this issue to a tool to engage in your rampant bigotry. You accuse me of whataboutery but you have failed to understand what I'm saying. Whataboutery would be if I tried to brush aside Iran's actions by bringing up other countries, but I didn't do that. I just rubbished your bigotry by making out that countries often play games with people's lives whether they are islamic countries or not, and that it doesn't really play a role in what's happening at all.

There's plenty of reasons to criticise Iran, but let's not sink down to Islamaphobia, especially considering you, out of everyone here, should know the dangers of using a religion to demonise entire groups of people.

The UK should pay back the Iranian Cash
they gave us ,for Tanks in the 1970's
that never got to them due to the 1979 Revolution.

But USA Sanctions
stop us paying that Cash back
So President Biden should help her
By letting the UK pay back the Iranian Cash.(£400million pounds)
