I take it you never tuned in to his breakfast show, he was never done giving politicians a roasting, day after day, especially about the pandemic but other topics too. He got all steamed up then as well - obsessed he was, I tell you, obsessed!
No. He has strong opinions. It's his thing....his job....

The bloke use to shout over and interrupt the guests on the breakfast show, he made the whole show a farce and unwatchable . Susanna would sit there next to him day in and day out rolling her eyes and huffing and puffing trying to get a word in edgeways, that's not my idea of entertainment .

And even when he made valid points he would ruin it by acting petulant and covering his ears practically like a child and going 'la la lala not listening'. It was the Piers M organ show , and other people barely got a say. That's NOT a level debate it's just a big headache .
