ITV’s documentary about the coronavirus ordeal of Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper airs today (Tuesday 23 March).

Broadcaster Garraway has been sharing regular updates about her husband’s illness since he was hospitalised with Covid-19 in March last year.

Kate Garraway: Finding Derek will follow the Good Morning Britain presenter as she narrates the journey Draper and their family have endured since he became ill.

I actually didn't realise he had gone into hospital right at the beginning of the pandemic, it must have been a horrendous year for her, that said I don't want to watch it, too depressing

I watched this last night, so heartbreaking.
But he's getting better and will continue to improve.

I remember hearing about him falling ill with covid, is it just covid that's made him so poorly? or was there other health problems? . It sounded serious.

She has apparently said he's regressed a little since the documentary.
This was awful, a life turned upside down which really, as for many others we don't really yet hear about or are told about.
People who because of this virus may never be the same again or have much of the life they had.

I hope he'll improve more, I hope anyone left stricken with this long covid can be helped to improve.

This was very hard viewing, very hard indeed.

...I’m not sure if there were any underlying medical things originally, GoldHeart...but there has been so much damage to his body with ‘long Covid’... kidney failure, pancreatic and liver damage and holes in his lungs from pneumonia...

Awww that's terrible Ammi , hopefully he gets better but it doesn't look good.
