To be fair, there's probably a conservation to be had about whether different races have different metabolic processes, and if different diets would work differently with them.
Picking on a random dim woman in the audience of whatever show that is who got a pity-clap, her sounding stupid doesn't make the whole debate stupid. |

That lady should redirect her anger toward whoever made her hair look like a tropical skin disease, because that person may actually be racist.

...to be fair, this seems to be a part of a bigger conversation from the TV series ‘The Conversation’...which I’m thinking might be a similar thing to Loose Women but with a live audience participating...?...and the discussion is in response to wider articles and researches etc in the USA of specifying weight issues/obesity etc in black females...that singling out of black females, type thing which apparently USA articles have done...and her words and thoughts aren’t just her own personal thing from what I can see, there are many, many researches that say the similar and support what she and the group are saying....that lifestyle eating/diets vary with race as well...we obviously know ourselves, all of us...that with any and all ‘diets’ they’re not ‘one size fits all’, it’s down to individuality but research is apparently looking into ‘not one size fitting all’ in terms of race as well...that’s what the conversation all seems to be about ....I hadn’t really thought of that before so it’s interesting...

It is true likely that different people benefit more from different diets and it would make sense that there’s some correlation with race there, so I get what she’s saying about health advice being tailored to a “default” (usually white and male, but certainly white) that isn’t always the most helpful.
Her second claim though, that people are more inclined to retain fat because of the stress of experiencing racism..? That one is scientifically dubious. Stress can make you eat more and have less energy for being active, that’s certainly true, but I don’t think there’s abundant evidence for it causing actual physical changes that stop you losing weight. |

That’s not really relevant though, no one is questioning if everyone can lose weight by reducing calorie intake (I still would NEVER advocate a straight up low-cal diet though)or increasing activity. The question is, are different things more effective for different ancestries and that there should be a push for “fitness advice” being tailored to the individual rather than “a default”. Ideally it always should be. E.g. my fitness and diet requirements (as a well built 6’2 male) are totally different to my wife’s (5’6 female). I need significantly more protein in my diet for example and low-intensity cardio (25000 steps a day lol) would be all but useless for me in terms of actual fitness. |

...what’s being said ...(....but it isn’t just something being said by the lady in this group discussion, it’s something that some associated research in studies is suggesting as well from what I’m reading...)..is that black females will lose less weight than white females even if following the exact same diets and exercise because black female metabolism runs more slowly than white female metabolism...(...as TS is saying in the differences with males and females...)...and we look at those differences with male/female weight diet/exercise etc so the same should be considered with race and different advise would be appropriate...if not and if all diet is focused mostly or more on ‘white metabolisms’ then it’s being suggested that would be considered a prejudice in favouring white females over black..whether that’s agreed with or not, it’s a valid conversation because as we know...weight/diet/exercise has links to health as well...
