[Tesco has been fined £7.56m by a judge for selling out of date food at three of its Birmingham stores. The supermarket chain was handed the penalty by a judge at Birmingham magistrates court on Monday and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £95,500, Birmingham city council said. It was also ordered to pay a £170 victim surcharge. The fine was handed down after Tesco admitted 22 breaches of the food safety and hygiene regulations between 2016 and 2017.] [Tesco said it was “disappointed” that out of date products got on to the shelves, adding that it took “immediate action” to rectify the problems and had “robust procedures” in place to ensure there is no repeat.] Typical. |

Reminds me of a favourite quote from the Royle Family
"How did we let those sausages get out of date? Have we won the bloody lottery?" Last edited by Alf; 19-04-2021 at 11:54 PM. |

I think a lot of supermarkets do this with store cupboard stuff, how many times I have cleared out my cupboard and found tins out of date and I haven't had them that long, we don't routinely check dates on flour, tins and store cupboard stuff in general, at least I don't
