Default Gov. Surggestion : Ban Gas Boilers from 2025

[Gas hobs and boilers could be banned in new homes
by 2025 to meet carbon emissions targets

The Committee on Climate Change (CCC)
has warned that UK homes are not fit
for a future of heatwaves, droughts and floods.

Baroness Brown, said the government
"has to get serious about this" if it is
committed to meeting climate targets,
which require net zero emissions to
curb rising temperatures.

Existing homes and new properties
are "retrofitted" with energy efficiency measures,
which often falls short of
stated design standards - deceiving householders
and inflicting costs on the future, the committee said.
Closing the "performance gap" between design
standards and what is achieved could
potentially save £70 and £260 a year
on energy bills in new builds.]

"Energy efficient" electric, one assumes. It's only on new builds so I suspect solar "storage heaters" is quite likely, with backup from the grid.

It's a good idea and I get that it's necessary but one thing it does mean is that hot water will mostly be via energy efficient storage tanks/immersion which means "limited" hot water before you have to turn it off and let it heat up again. So a lot more people (especially larger families) having electric showers rather than running off the hot water, I would think.

Checking that the owner has a carbon monoxide alarm is part of any annual service, and it is the law that landlords have boilers in their properties checked annually and they have to pay extra for a Landlord certification

Remember the 'endless' supply of 'clean' cheap north sea gas we were promised in the 70s?

Pffft!

I'm all electric in my current home.
However I had gas heating in my previous one.

I hate electric heating.
Gas was far preferable and I'd say more efficient.

…I was reading a little article the other day of the possible alternatives, Joey…I’ll just leave it here if it’s of interest at all…
