Dominic Cummings has published messages apparently from Boris Johnson, in which the PM describes the health secretary as "hopeless".

It is the latest salvo in a bitter war of words between Mr Cummings and Mr Hancock over the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

The PM's former aide accuses Mr Hancock of trying to rewrite history at a select committee appearance last week.

He repeats claims - denied by Mr Hancock - that he lied to the PM.

The WhatsApp messages, which appear to show an exchange between Mr Johnson and Mr Cummings on 27 March last year, have been put on Mr Cummings blog.

Some of the revisionism Hancock is attempting is really baffling though - e.g. there never being a PPI shortage. It wasn't as extreme a shortage as some other countries have experienced, or as was feared, but to pretend it didn't happen?

Inviting a viper like Cummings into one's bed is never a wise idea, he was stocking the silver bullets from the start.

Would be amusing if he finally managed to get BoJo ousted, but he's not like a real person, he never actually responds to anything or answers questions, he just blusters and rambles on. While he's a twat his methods make his almost Teflon.
