Default What is the best holiday you’ve ever had…

…okay, so as we’re still a bit restricted atm, we can think about holidays that we’ve had, maybe in childhood or maybe more recently….and the most memorable times and most beautiful places we’ve visited…what’s your best/most loved holiday..?…

Rio is my favourite place to go. I just have a sense that it is where my heart belongs whenever I am there.

so many

couple of my America holidays i think

best bits: Celine Dion ''a new day'' concert in Las Vegas, visiting Elvis's Graceland when in Memphis, also Elvis's birthplace in Tupelo, also Palm Springs with the lift (same one Columbo was on in that series), Georgetown i walked the famous Exorcist steps, Sea World the Shamu show of course which was fab to see live

most embarrassing bit: that dinosaur ride breaking down in florida, after having to listen through Ellen DeGeneres's intro for first 25 minutes all for nothing

worst bit: in Bedford Pennsylvania, most awful B & B we stayed in, and the owner is one real creep, we said we are leaving, we filed complaint about mold in our room, bathroom, and everything being dirty, but he just laughed in the most weird way ever like a seal thank god we left because the replacement B & B we found had a wonderful breakfast either, and at a discount because it was a last minute check in and we had told that story too, and CAN YOU IMAGINE that horror B & B now being top 2 there for places to stay in that town

Christmas in Murren, Switzerland. You have to get a funicular train up to it, no cars... you can ski down the main street and the houses look like jewellery boxes, if you lifted up the roof, it'd play Edelweiss.

There are loads of places I'd love to return to.

I have been fortunate to have travelled to many great places...New York by far the best City. Australia the best country....but when I was 18 ten of us hired a canal boat for a week and we travelled down the Norfolk Broads...we just had the best time and we were all so miserable when the week came to an end.
Over the last few years I have had long weekends on a canal boat with my girlfriends...if you get the right weather they are great fun.

No not really....I mean you need a bit of strength but we never had any problems. You can find routes with just a couple of locks...but its more fun with them imo...sometimes you share a lock with another Boat and everyone chats to each other. Then as you slowly chug along down the Canal...cocktail in one hand, good company and lovely countryside...

We did a few family holidays on the Broads and the Thames when me and my brother were younger. My Dad loved mooring at a pub and going for a pint. They were fun times.....except for the time I fell in showing off to jump for the bank at a lock and no-one could get me out the water as they were killing themselves laughing

…the Broads are virtually my neighbours, we’ve had some wonderful holidays there also and some great celebration days out on day boats …

Oh you really must give this a go...the another best moment was mooring up in Bath, sitting on the Towpath with our portable BBQ watching loads of Hot Air Balloons overhead...it was just perfect.

-Spending my birthday in Kyoto, Japan. Going there was a childhood dream and I travelled there for 3 weeks and for my birthday! The History, the temples, the culture. Japan is so intriguing and endearing.

-Hiking on volcanos in Costa Rica. I mean Costa Rica is an amazing country thanks to the wildlife and the kindness of its people but my highlight was hiking the volcanos and bathing in hot springs right after.

-Christmas in London and Zermatt in Switzerland. London because I was young and spending Christmas there with my parents before they divorced is the last good memory I have of them together. That trip also started my passion for this country and to live there.
And Switzerland because obviously snow and all that cheesy romantic stuff around it that I can't help but like in that context

-And Lake Como. Feeling the Italian Dolce Vita fantasy!

We're also going to New Zealand and Fidji for our honeymoon trip in September. It's going to be great too! (fingers crossed Covid will allow us to go this time!)

God I’d love to go to New York. Hopefully in the next year or two (pandemic permitting).

My favourite was one time we went to a caravan like we always did as kids to the coast in West Wales but this time two other families from where we lived were there at the same time on the same park and the kids went to school/hung around with me and/or my sister here so we all stayed in this big gang all week, plus other kids from Liverpool and Birmingham way we met too.

I just remember it being so sunny and hot, endless fun at the beach and the funfair etc. BBQs, water fights. Just kids being kids. Those summer days as a kid that seemed to go on forever. Brilliant.

I’ve had plenty, but one of the most memorable was a week in Richmond VA doing the history bit, followed by two weeks in Savannah GA doing the stroll around, eat, drink, and admire the architecture bit.
Beautiful city Savannah, took my wife’s photo while she was sitting on the bench in Chippewa Square that Tom Hanks sat on in Forrest Gump.
Not the original bench though, that’s now in the Savannah History Museum.
