Default Barcelona: Xavi officially presented as the new manager

their mess, but now en route for something more decent maybe?

maybe a relegation is good for Barca, for one year in lower division

sell all those too expensive players, invest more in own youth again

start over from nothing and rebuild into a decent team

that one year in Serie B was also good for Juventus, even though a forced year in lower level

Koeman was relaxed in today's press conference ahead of the match against Atletico Madrid and even quoted a phrase commonly used by Louis van Gaal ''good afternoon, friends of the media''

and even praised president Laporta how he remains very supportive to him as manager

Barcelona president Joan Laporta says he hoped Lionel Messi would stay at the club and "play for free".

Messi, 34, left for Paris St-Germain in August after Barcelona were unable to renew his contract because of La Liga's salary limits.

The Argentine, who won 10 league titles with the Catalan giants, had to leave despite agreeing a deal worth 50% of his previous contract.

"There was disappointment on both sides," Laporta said.

"I hoped Messi would do a U-turn and he would say he would play for free," he added in an interview with Catalan radio station RAC1.

"I would have liked that and I would have been all for it. It is my understanding La Liga would have accepted it. But we cannot ask a player of Messi's stature to do this."

He could have played for free and enhanced his reputation worldwide- beyond measure .

Wages are crazy ..

Check out Neymar’s monthly BONUS deal !!

PSG pays Neymar an ethics bonus of $867,000 per month (approximately $10.4 million per year) for being “polite, punctual, friendly and available to the fans”. He is also reportedly prohibited from publicly criticising the club's tactical approaches.

a reason why Newcastle United do not have to make themselves become another PSG or Man City

absolutely ridiculous and also stupid how PSG and Man City are allowed to get away with this

Just a few lights shining at the end of a deep , dark tunnel.

We have Pedri and FDJ in place and thankfully a supremely talented Gavi ( just turned 17 a few weeks ago ) has emerged!!

Also Fati is back from injury and KunA made an appearance last night asa sub

Ronald Koeman won't get sacked, not even after 1-2 home loss vs rivals real madrid

Koeman in his car got harrassed by fans but the directors continue to defend him

https://www.football-espana.net/2021...usmane-dembele

New Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez is backing Ousmane Dembélé to thrive following his arrival.

Dembélé has flattered to deceive during his four years at Barcelona so far following his more than €100million move from Borussia Dortmund.

The winger is still only 24 years of age, but injuries have hampered his career so far, and it has been no different this season.

Dembélé suffered a serious knee injury during the summer while playing for France at Euro 2020.

He returned last week, but after Barcelona defeated Dynamo Kyiv and the winger participated for around 20 minutes, he suffered another setback.

The Frenchman will now miss around three weeks through his latest setback, but new Barca boss Xavi is not concerned.

During his unveiling as head coach today, Xavi backed Dembélé to become a ‘world-class player’ under his guidance.

“Dembele in his position can be the best player in the world,” said Xavi. “He has to be a world class player.

“It’s important to have a winning mentality and consistency. We have to help him.”

Dembélé is set to get a new contract at Barca, currently set to be out of contract next summer.

And it’s clear Xavi would like that deal to go through as he prepares to take over the Blaugrana.
