![]() https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-58879161 [In an upcoming comic book issue, Superman will become romantically involved with his friend, a pink-haired reporter named Jay Nakamura] [DC Comics has announced that its latest Superman, Jon Kent, will be bisexual. In its next comic book issue, due for release in November, Jon will be pictured in a same-sex relationship with his friend Jay Nakamura. The storyline is part of 'Superman: Son of Kal-El', a series following Jon as he takes on the mantle of Superman from his father, Clark Kent. DC Comics made the announcement on National Coming Out Day, an annual LGBT awareness day started in the US.] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-58879161

Clark (real Superman) is currently off-world, dealing with a crisis which, according to Jon's time in the future with the Legion of Superheros, is what kills him. Jon is "filling in", acting as Supes on Earth, "until Clark comes back."
BTW - As an aspiring reporter, Jay was more impressed that Jon was the son of Lois Lane ![]() Jon is basically a new character - he's existed since 2015, but until very recently he was a child, but he got aged-up as part of a storyline. So at least people can't complain that a longstanding character with previous relationships has been gaywashed. Tim Drake, the third Robin, was recently turned bisexual as well. That makes less sense, as he's had plenty of girlfriends, and there hasn't been any indication he's into anyone else. BUT despite existing for longer than me, the character is 17ish, so it's not unreasonable that he just "didn't know" until now. #DCfanboy Spoiler:

Feke nooz poster; a new character is bisexual, they’re not making “the” Superman bisexual, as DC and everyone else knows fine well that everyone is still going to think/know that Superman = Clark Kent (thus, he will be back at some point).
To be fair though if you want to get technical… Clark Kent and Lois Lane are in an interspecies relationship, as Superman is not human ![]() |

So Superman’s son is bisexual then? It’s got nothing to do with the actual Superman or the actual franchise?? So it’s just another attempt by the media to whip up an unease with the egocentric straights, that the ‘gays are taking over’???
On a side note, I haven’t read a comic since I was like, 12, but those illustrations are wild, the quality and the detail is insane

Manga and DogMan are more popular than DC and Marvel comics among "The Young"

Being realistic, the driving reason they are doing this is to increase revenue on a product that is almost dead. They haven't made a big deal of it in their other revenue streams which makes me think this particular comic is dead in the water presently

And tbh from the Comics that I've read (which admittedly isn't loads of them) the writing is better for them than the current form of Live Action TV imo. And going to the topic of the thread this is definitely being blown out of proportion imo, why can't Clark's Son be Bisexual?

Indeed, my daughter is 12 and has progressed from anime into manga along with a lot of her school friends. They mostly read them in digital format though, rather than physical copies. Might try to source her a few of her faves for Christmas though. |

There are two comics I'd say succeed in creating "American Manga" from DC, and funnily enough they both feature Damian Wayne, aka the incumbent Robin! One is Super Sons, by Peter Tomaso, and that also has Jon Kent, but before he as aged up; and Robin by Joshua Williamson, which is basically a character-driven battle royale ![]()
