Although personally I thought my song not only fitted the Halloween theme but was perfect for the style of dance I was given. But mine was definitely something you wouldn't hear on Strictly.

Toy Soldier: Great way to open the show, you can't beat a bit of Rocky Horror. Reminds me of a halloween school disco. Perfect choice for the dance

Parmnion: A fair opening, I have seen this song performed a couple of times already on SCD though

Barry: I love this song, but, it’s something that’s been done before on the show and here I think, but good first dance

Toy Soldier: I enjoyed the very dramatic dance, wonderful, but I'm not sure the theme was quite on track. I get that Saw is a horror film - but it's not "Halloween Horror" in my opinion so I have to deduct a point. But I did enjoy the dance.

Parmnion: Wow, you went in all guns blazing. I would be lying if I said I did not enjoy this. Slightly one dimensional in tune though, but it had me on edge.

Barry: Has this been done? If not I loved it, spooky yet a great AT

Parmnion: Another fair effort for week one, slightly off tempo but pleasing enough

Barry: I’m so sure this has been done too? Anyway it was a fun Charleston to go with the song

5. Next up is Nicky and Nancy with a Salsa to Dead Man's Party

Toy Soldier: I just can't see how anyone could Salsa to this one I'm afraid. More effort needed to match the traditions of the dance to the style of the music. Where is that Latin Fire??

Parmnion: A tough dance choice for halloween week, but you did your best, and it worked. Dead men can dance

Barry: Ok, ok! Something about this is so good. Salsa would be a harder choice, for me, for Halloween night but I think you did a good job

Toy Soldier: Exactly the same problem as the previous dance; Backstreet may be back, but they ain't doing a Samba. The style, pace and beat of the song doesn't match the dance. Come on, people!

Parmnion: This bored me, the moves and beat were ok, but it wasnt chilling enough as what we have had before

Barry: I guess I’m just a tad bored of predictable song choices but I did like this and it’s not a surprise this works well.

Toy Soldier: This worked a little better than I expected, I enjoyed the song, but it's too slow for the dance. For the third entry in a row - more effort needed to match the song to the dance and not just the theme

Parmnion: This seemed more like an american waltz to me, great song though

Barry: I don’t know if it’s just me not really getting a cha cha from the song but I’m not an expert on that. The song was good

Toy Soldier: This time, I was actually pleasantly surprised by how well this track went with the dance, I didn't expect that. However... I have absolutely no idea what Squid Game has to do with Halloween, other than ... having blood in it ...? I don't know. Way off-piste on the theme but I still enjoyed this

Parmnion: My favourite routine so far off the night, but I am going to be fair and mark it down a bit for squid games not being halloweeny enough

Barry:Ok, I did like this as it suited the paso doble. I wasn’t too crazy on the tune but it went with the dance.

Toy Soldier: Spot on, well done. Gomez and Morticia vibes. Haunting

Parmnion: A haunting rumba, filled with haunting moves.This show just became hauntingly competitive

Barry: Rumba is hard to get but I think you did well. It was good and it had soul.

Toy Soldier: Wow. The song choice on this one. Has the contestant ever seen a Tango? And even if not - have they ever heard of Halloween?? Misses the mark on the theme, misses the mark on the culture of the dance, misses the mark on the tempo by a mile. All over the place. I am actually speechless

Parmnion: Yet again this isnt very halloween for me, perhaps you were expecting spooky costume choices to go with the song. Unfortunately I have to mark a fair enough routine down for that

Barry: Billie I see, I thought she might get on here but it was good and well presented. Good closing

a 2 is so harsh, I thought I was going to rock bottom scoring with my 3 at the end there . I wanted to give myself some wriggle room in case there’s something truly shocking in later shows.

For what it’s worth I thought it went fine with the dance Alf, the song was just to “samey” throughout so it got a little monotonous after the first minute or so. I also find White Stripes really pretentious but I didn’t reduce the score for that as it’s purely a personal thing .
