Remembering Kerry

I know she wants to carry on and it's commendable all the way her sense of duty.
However, she doesn't need to. She has a Son who SHOULD be well trained as to the role of being a Monarch, and who has been for many decades. Then the succession is further assured with Prince George too. So no way does she need to carry on at 95 years old. She could have a role like her Mother, who as Queen Mother, appeared when able to and still carried out limited functions. I suspect, my suspicious mind I guess, in a small part, the Queen has concerns for the monarchy, once Prince Charles does take over. It has to happen one day however and the Queen retiring now after all her decades of dedication, could be the better transition. Where she could guide from the background, his start to being Monarch. Rather than when sadly she's no longer with us, with him taking the reigns at that time. If she has now health concerns and at 95 who would be surprised. She doesn't HAVE to continue with the responsibilities and workload expected of a Monarch and I doubt anyone would begrudge her retiring now at all. |

She will remain alive through sheer willpower until the day Charles dies, and then with a little relieved smile, she’ll declare “finally, I can go… steer the ship well, sweet William…” and simply crumble into dust and blow away on the breeze.

I think The Queen will continue with her duties, until it's strongly advised not to medically.
As for Charles , I still think when he 'takes over ' he'll automatically hand over to William . |

she wont retire when she can delegate as she has been doing for years. It's about extending the record for the longest serving monarch now. She has set the bar right up there and it will be generations ahead before its even possible to match her record

she does not need to retire, but just take it a bit easier
not a surprise for me this doctors advice, given SHE IS 95 after all always loved Queen Lizzie anyway, made it a tradition too at each christmas to watch her speech (prefer hers over dull king willem-alexander's from our nation)

Well I'm about to take a trip into the town centre to buy the four Avengers movies for something to watch later tonight, so I'll have a wander upto the cenotaph while I'm there to pay my respects.

I didn't think it wise for her to attend this today with her not being at the best of health.
This is however, for the Queen, a massive one to miss and had there been the slightest chance she could have attended, she would have. Wishing her well. |

Maybe she really does have back pain, it is very debilitating, she has been very stooped over lately.
I hope that's what it is anyway. |

It would be very surprising if she DIDN’T have back pain in her 90’s to be fair. Her health does seem to be declining now though - again not to be harsh, but hardly surprising in her 90’s.
She may not be at deaths door but I think it’s inevitable (and frankly, only right) that she will be seen less and less in public in her final few years. She should probably “semi abdicate” and just unofficially hand over all of these sorts of duties to Charles and William. |
