Thankfully not had anything worse than a bump. Possibly the most stupid bump I had was about a week after I passed my test and my car broke down...I rang my Grandad to come and tow me, he hooked up the rope and told me we would take it slow. All was ok for a minute, until we turned a corner and the steering lock activated. I didn't know that would happen and the key was in my pocket.....I crashed into a wall' my grandad called me a million names and I cried all the way home......with the key in the ignition

Oh god, least you are here to tell the tale.

I haven't had any really. I've gone into the back of someone at a roundabout though, probably 10mph. Too busy looking for my space not to see car in front.

I wish people would leave more stopping distance and consider their speed for the road they are driving on and the conditions. It ruins lives.

People who are on their mobile phones really annoys me as does drink/drug driving...and not wearing a seat belt.

Was in a crash with my friend as teenagers, literally a month or two after he passed his test. Understeer on a country road bend, put us off the road into a field and the car was a write-off. Scary as **** but not serious in terms of injuries, neither of us were badly hurt. Pulled neck/shoulder muscles and I had a bit of bruising from the seatbelt in a "stripe" across my chest. And my arm got all scratched up by a thorny bush that I pushed my way out of the car through - because (being daft teenagers who had clearly seen one too many films) we panicked and desperately scrabbled out of the car, convinced it was going to explode . To be fair, we're probably very lucky, we just went through bushes and into a field/ditch but there were various trees lining the road and he was going far too fast (hence the understeer) so it could have easily been a fatal crash if there's been a tree there.

That's really the only "proper" accident I've been in, anything else has just been minor bumps.

My dad, when I was a kid, wrote off TWO cars by falling asleep at the wheel . Thankfully no other cars involved either time. One of the times he didn't actually wake up ... he jolted awake and found himself sat in the car, in the middle of a field, and had to walk to the farmhouse and find the farmer who pulled him back to the road . Arrived home with both headlights smashed and the front bumper hanging off.

Oh on the topic of Smart Motorways, we had a VERY near-miss from basically causing a pile-up not long after my wife passed her test. Traffic had stopped dead on the motorway, she didn't notice the car in front wasn't moving until it was too late to stop in time, slammed the brakes hard but there wasn't enough distance... so steered onto the hard shoulder literally just in time. We ended up sat side-by-side with the stopped car like "...hullo" .

But yeah, if there hadn't been a hard shoulder to turn into we would definitely have rear-ended that car.
