Yes, it arrived yesterday and is on the mantlepiece - in pride of place.

The Royals have been doing family Xmas cards for ever...some lovely family ones from Diana and Charles with the boys.

Beautiful card released by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year, putting an original spin on a boring tradition.

It was just a family photo also though, but tbh I found it too contrived and pretentious like many of the pics they release, like this is all fans like you are getting; Archies hand or Archies foot or a cartoon - like Xmas image. Just show yourselves ffs. Be warm and real and stop the arty farty desperation - to - be - different palaver.

.....I just love how William and Kate often proudly show us their children as they grow, just like Diana and Charles did, and as the Queen did, and as her parents did before her....all relevant historical records for the future...

To be fair though, when you have round the clock armed protection officers it is easy to be a bit more relaxed about people seeing your children. Many celebrities don't show their children's faces as they can then become a target. Its not as easy to target a child when you don't know what the child looks like.

I agree, it's lovely to see the Cambridge children growing up....as we did with William and Harry but I can't condemn anyone who wants to keep their children's images private until they are of an age themselves to decide if they want their pictures out there.

Interesting, none of them are particularly festive so not sure what the furore is over the current card

Well there's no furore from me Cherie.
The forum posted the card thereby inviting comments on it surely.

My point isn't just about this card.
I find it pretentious and even distasteful that people force their image on others in greetings cards.

I say again whether that's Royals, Politicians, celebrities or even my own friends or family.
None of my friends or family would even dream of putting their picture on a greetings card to anyone.

So my gripe is against anyone who does so not just these.

No furore, just I find it pathetic.
Enclose a picture with the card but to have your own image staring out from the front of it.
No thanks, not for me.
I think it's saying, look at me, look at us.
I wouldn't put a card up sent to me from whoever sent me it, if they had their own images on it.

I get family photos as Christmas cards from cousins in America, I think its lovely to see the families growing over the years with new additions, daughter in laws, son in laws, new babies, etc my nieces send cards with their children, again its nice to see them growing up, each to their own I guess

I’m referring to the likes of their officially released images. Hand, foot, cartoon - like.
To be accurate, there are pics and and a few vids of Archie clearly shown with either Harry (on the beach) and Meghan or both. Meghan reading Duck Rabbit to him springs to mind.
Harry and Meghan have protection officers, so the children are protected also. Probably not as well as they would be in the Royal fold, so fair enough, I take your point.

I agree. I get the same from relatives in America and New Zealand. I look forward to opening them every year, I love having the 'physical' photos to keep rather than images on a screen.

I think the family picture on a card originated in the USA and just makes me cringe whoever is on it

Oh yes jet it’s worked out fabulously for all of them hasn’t it . Both of Cherles’ sons struggling with depression and anxiety, and The Queen’s own brood steeped in decades of divorce, alcoholism and sex offence allegations. Bravo

Absolutely me too.

As I said earlier, by all means send photos enclosed WITH the card.
Not splashed all over the front of it.

Cringe is the word for me too.
Anyhow I don't agree with it or find it tasteful and have said so.
I'll shut up now.

Just like many families all over the world. (well, maybe not so much the sex allegations.)

Not sure what that has got to do though with having family photos of them growing up for us to see - and for historical records.

My cousin in Australia did it every year...looked lovely framed and I think it makes for a lovely Christmas card.

I think it tends to come from originally from families who have emigrated and did not get to get back home very often as a way of sending a family pic
